The NFL believes it has a problem with having too few minority coaches among its ranks. So, they’ve decided to solve this problem by ordering each team to hire a “diverse person” to their offensive coaching staff.
The league informed teams of the new requirement in a memo sent Monday afternoon.
“All NFL teams will be required to have a “diverse person (female or a member of an ethnic or racial minority)” on staff as an offensive assistant in 2022,” Dallas Morning News reporter Michael Gehlken wrote. “This position will be funded, in part, by a stipend from league office. Rule designed to improve diversity of HC pipeline.”
The move comes as former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores pursues a case against the NFL for racism in their hiring practices. Flores brought the suit after he claimed the New York Giants interviewed him with no intention of hiring him as they had already decided to hire former Bills coach Brian Daboll to be the head coach.
The NFL has had the Rooney Rule in place for nearly twenty years. A regulation requiring teams to interview at least two minority candidates for a coaching position and at least one minority candidate for front-office positions. Women are also included under the Rooney Rule.
Up until recently, there were several minority head coaches in the league. However, after a slew of firings at the end of the 2021 season, Pittsburgh’s Mike Tomlin was the only minority coach left in the league.
With only two minority coaches hired in the latest hiring cycle, the league seems to have shifted from merely requiring interviews to actually mandating hires.

Instead of messing around, the NFL should require that the NFL commissioner must be a black women (two woke-up credits) and replace that goofy Goodell with Condoleeza Rice. She would end all that wokeness crap Goodell is pushing and get back to playing football.
The NFL will not change until they start losing money. Losing it in a big way! I haven't seen a game in 3 years. If my daughters "in-laws" are visiting I have a game on for them. They routinely get Steeler tickets and offer me some. I let them think I have no interest in sports. So I don't partake! They're good people but without football they'd have nothing in the fall.
Only way is stop watching! Stop paying attention to it!If enough do that and their bottom line is efected. There will then be changes.
That's not going to happen too many people are addicted to it. Can't get through a weekend without it. Look at FR, you would think that if there was a place that might put such a thing in effect. The majority here still seem to be watching it.
I'd like to see all professional sports lose their monopoly exemptions.
Where I work at the only way to move ahead is not being a white guy. Management hires and promotes people who are exactly like themselves. There is no motivation for me to work hard.

He has filed several amicus briefs with the US Supreme Court, parts of one ended up in the Opinion of the Court. (Sorry, won’t specify. It’s a respect for privacy thing.) But mostly he just works his butt off and gets well paid for doing so.

This is another nail in the coffin of the NFL.
What will they say?
Probably say, “ We’re making money you racist homophobic trans-gender hating Boomer so shut up!”.
The NFL is an oligarchy whose time has passed. Sports fans would be better served by a looser affiliation of teams/competitors like we have in other sports (e.g. boxing, golf, bowling, college football etc.). The league construct is anti-competitive. Obviously some cooperation between teams is necessary in order to schedule games, etc. But the NFL’s ability to impose rules like this, prevent other cities/teams from joining their exclusive club and thereby limiting the number of teams in order to maximize pthe rofit for those owners fortunate enough to be invited into the club, is the source of much that is wrong with professional football.
