Some of the posters here have gone insane over Ukraine. They couldn’t find it on a map three months ago but now they’re willing to blow up the world for the sake of a poor corrupt dictatorship on the other side of the world. WTF??!?

Haven't they been having those same military parades for decades? At least North Korea does those weird artsy arena shows.

US/NATO are asking for it .

Were it not for the fact that Russia has nukes, their military has proven to be marginally better (at best) than a third-world country military.

They fail in logistics just like they have every other war they've been in.

Their military tactics are so fatally flawed, the entire world sees how bad they are.

And all Putin has, is the threat of global thermonuclear war.

Absent nukes, the "vaunted" Russian military would've been destroyed long ago.

Gen. George S. Patton was right about Russia. 100% right.

Finally, and for the record: I'm not advocating for US Military intervention in Ukraine. The Russian military absent nukes, would've crumbled under its own weight long ago. There would've been no foray into Ukraine to begin with.

And when this is all over, Russia will be nothing more than China's gas station. Putin will be Xi's bitch, just like Biden is. Bank.

Eight MiG-29 fighters also flew past in a ‘Z’ formation - the insignia used by Putin’s military as a symbol of its military action in Ukraine, which critics have likened to the swastika used by the Nazis.

MI6 propaganda at its finest...letters of the alphabet turned into symbols of hate.

Orwell: I told you so!

“Jubilant soldiers and servicewomen marched outside the Kremlin in preparation for Monday’s celebration”

Compared to the not so jubilant soldiers in Ukraine who have the choice of being shot by the Ukrainian soldiers or their Chechen “allies”. Putin must have kept his crack units in Moscow in anticipation of the Victory parade.
While I have no pup in this hunt I would find it ironic if the invading Russians had their arses handed to them by the smaller and inferior Ukrainians.

It is an interesting point that war, even nuclear, is the choice of leadership.

You might ask, “But who would make such a choice?” Who would risk getting shot for a flatscreen TV? The world is full of all kinds. Most are not too bright.

Our current leadership gives all the clues necessary as to their thinking, by how they have responded to their own people. Protestors locked indefinitely in solitary confinement. The unarmed shot dead with impunity. Razor wire up at a moments notice as the next riots are started. The list is endless.

These are the people stupid enough to push the button without even a thought they’ve never had.

They view NATO as a US proxy, and they want to have their own sphere of influence which is NATO’s e[q]ual.

In reality, what the Russian Tsar (Putin) and his court wants, we cannot give them so they must TAKE IT! Vladimir Putin, the so successful former KGB Colonel, wants a new Russian Empire with the Warsaw Pact accessories! It is the DEADLY equivalent of a two year-old throwing a tantrum combined with the ever present Russian paranoia about existential threats!

Note please, the pattern of Putin's actions at the periphery of 'legal' Russia! In Obama's Administration was the active use of Russian troops and assets in the Caucuses (Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan) and then the preliminary attacks on Ukraine by pro-Russian separatists(!) in the east and Crimea. Remember the shoot-down of that other Malaysian Airliner in 2014?

Now in Biden's Administration, after the Afghanistan FIASCO, the thought must have been to 'seize the day' (carpe diem) as they knew that a 5 day campaign would merely get Russia a strongly worded letter, especially if Putin would guarantee certain legal matters involving the Biden Family affairs were kept quiet and profitable! Gee, if only Trump had not kept NATO training the Ukrainian military. Or reminding Europe that the bear could still draw blood!

Re: 18 - I don’t know sushiman from sashimi, but why the “insane” comment?

Have you read that book by Kahn? Let me ask a more basic question - do you believe you have the intellect and reasoning skills to read Kahn’s book and determine if its claims are applicable to the Russia-Ukraine war?

Should potential use of special weapons (nuclear, biological, chemical) by Russia be considered when the West determines cause-effect scenarios of the Russia - Ukraine war?

“Frankly a don’t give a rats behind what the commies in Russia want”

As people not involved we have the privilege of not caring what the other side thinks or wants. Having some small exposure to politics I can say that if you need the other party to do, or not do something, then you need to understand what he wants. Previous conflicts; Korea, Vietnam, Syria, Libia, have all been limited partially because they are very far from DC and Moscow. But Ukraine is close enough to home they can probably hear the bigger explosions in the outskirts of Mossow. This conflict has the potential to escalate and escalation can be exponential.

The Soviet dictator wasn’t a real dictator because he had to answer to a Politburo. Khrushchev failed to do so and he was “fired.” Putin is more along the lines of Stalin in that he answers to no one. He’s more like Hitler in that Hitler was the state. Putin is, for all practical purposes, Russia. And, he’s old and likely sick. That’s not a good combination. I sure wish we had people at the helm in the West that could walk up stairs without falling, or talk extemporaneously without constant gaffs.

There’s something called normalcy bias. Bad things have not happened; therefore, they won’t happen. I hope we haven’t been infected by it.

The communists have wanted the US gone for over a hundred years

They only fought Germany because Hitler attacked them

They have been bad actors from the get go. They believe in violent overthrow of any regime they don’t like

Pretending they are some how better now is delusional

Insanity shows itself

Since I can’t make any command to the military it matters not if I have read Kahn

“Pretending they are some how better now is delusional”

I agree with you. I wasn’t advocating pretention. I was advocating understanding where they are coming from. Knowledge is power.
