Police reveal two prior run-ins with alleged Highland Park shooter
Wash Examiner ^ | July 5 2022 | Abigail Adcox

The suspected gunman in the deadly shooting at an Independence Day parade in Highland Park, Illinois, had prior contact with law enforcement, police said Tuesday.

Robert "Bobby" E. Crimo III, 21, had two previous encounters with police in Highland Park, with the most recent in September 2019 over a "mental health issue" in which Crimo threatened to kill members of his family, Christopher Covelli, a spokesman for the Lake County Major Crime Task Force said in a news briefing.

Interesting as how the police have had run-ins with other mass shooters before they went out and killed a bunch of people; now this miscreant.

"So if he lied on his 4473, then he did NOT purchase the guns legally."

He's probably related to Hunter Biden.

September 2019 was the same month in which he had the rap show with the Rapper Nodfather and others at the local arts venue. His appearance with the other rapper was supposed to be on September 20, 2019. The flyer for that, posted online, indicated there were some 80 songwriters or bands in that event.

At that time there was also a big anime festival or concert series with popular Asian bands and all, going on.

Obviously Mental Health Experts failed again. Just looking at the fruitcake and you can easily determine “it” is not all there even without the mental health issues.

There was a time in the nation when this kid couldn’t have bought a gun because he would have been living at the county psych ward.

There should have been demands that the family get that kid help then and close follow up by both the police and the courts.

Once he turns 18, the family has no power over him other than kicking him out of the house. If he didn’t want help he couldn’t be forced to get help short of having him involuntarily committed and that’s not legally easy. Seriously, look at how many obviously crazy people are walking (and pooping) the streets.

If it was Chinese September was when Covid broke out in China. So this guy’s career was just getting interesting for him before Covid cut it short in January. That could have aggravated a mental illness.

Absolutely. They’ve got to cancel the US and strike our history from every obelisk.

Not only red flag laws. They want the ability/authority to surveil you for many years into the future (possibly forever) if you have ever been accused of anything or permanently take away your rights.

The fact that this shooter had run-ins with the law a few years ago will start that conversation. “Why, oh why didn’t you keep an eye on him?” How are the police supposed to keep tabs on any and everyone who has ever had an issue with depression? How about just letting someone make that claim and then prohibiting them from owning/touching a firearm forever thereafter?

Heaven forbid that his family do anything that isn't easy for their son or the police and courts for the community.

“However, Covelli said mental health experts were handling that situation and no law enforcement action was taken.”

Sounds to me like it was his therapist (I’m guessing he already had one, or several from the sound of his guy) was dealing with him and he was not ordered by the court to see a therapist (no law enforcement action). The gun purchasing form is for court-ordered mental health treatment.

His father, Bob Crimo Jr., ran for mayor in 2019, losing to a democrat. If his dad was that much of a public figure, just a few years ago, I am surprised he has not yet issued any statement in reference to his son killing six innocent people. He could very well be in a state of shock.
His mother has not made any public remarks either.

Did no one see how crazy this young man had become?
It’s true that Bob Crimo the shooter was a 21 y/o adult, not a child, but he was living like a jobless teenager for the last couple of months.

He threatened to kill his whole family. With a sword. The police confiscated the sword. He passed red flag laws.

Question 11.f. Have you ever been adjudicated mentally defective (which includes a determination by a court, board, commission, or other lawful authority that you are a danger to yourself or to others or are incompetent to manage your own affairs) OR have you ever been committed to a mental institution?

The question reflects it’s date origin, which was 1968 when the 4473 was introduced. Society has changed considerably. Mental institutions closed, and the mentally ill are no longer funneled through the court system. Almost no one meets the criteria, no matter how crazy they are.

And even if they met the requirements, I doubt there is an existing mechanism for getting that information in a database similar to the NICS where the background check is done.

I personally know of several 40 yo mushrooms, more children than adult. I thought at least one might have flipped out at some point, but no. They’re just humanesque now.
