$35,000 for a roof is ludicrous. I had standing seam metal roof installed for less than $25,000.
Roofers charge big bucks now for roofing.
Probably on houses that aren’t even worth that much.
I am a roofing contractor in Rochester and have never come across a residential single-family home that warranted a $35k roof replacement. These grants are nothing more than slush funds run by idiots in the building departments

Mexicans will fare well. They have pretty much taken over the roofing business. Most of their labor is illegal, and lots of their income is exported.
What percentage of home ownership does the city retain?

And city roofs are only like 24 x 24

The federal government should step in and provide Roof Loans. Then Biden can use the stroke of his pen in a couple years to wipe out all Roof Debt. Why should people be expected to repay the roof contract they signed?
A lucky 80 local Democrat canvassers, ballot fixers and friends of the Mayor will be eligible.
In the interest of public health and safety, the roofers should be required to take all the necessary shingles vaccine and boosters in order to remain in their employed capacity.
So lets say you have a two story 2500 square foot house with multiple valleys. There are two layers of asphalt shingles over wooden shingles on a planked roof. You need to strip all the shingles and install sheathing over the planks and then install new shingles/ Ice Guard. 12/7 roof pitch. What would you charge?

Wow! We just paid $12,500. That price is high in the article. Bet NY makes disposing of shingles very difficult and that is why the price is so high.
I am a roofer and even with all you have listed..a thousand a square would be a gravy job for me....The profit alone would allow me to bank 10K...assuming your in Rochester and going to get 35K...we could each pocket an additional 5...CALL ME,lol
That and the union cronies that will get the jobs.
