I was saddened to learn of the passing of actress Kirstie Alley on December 5. In tribute to Alley, please enjoy this compilation of her appearance as Saavik in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

I wonder what she would have thought of President Desantis.
Don’t know!
“When negotiating Kirstie Alley’s contract for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), Paramount Studios did not offer or include any options or clauses regarding any possible sequels. According to director Leonard Nimoy, this left Alley open to negotiate a new contract for this film, resulting in Alley’s excessive salary demands, which led to her being dropped and replaced by Robin Curtis.”

As I recall, she was getting underpaid in comparison to the rest of the cast. The usual. Although I like the original series, the actors acted like spoiled children when making the films with their constant demands for more money and more “character development”.
I wasn’t referring to Kirstie, by the way. It’s just that the original series actors demanded so much that there wasn’t enough left in the budget to give her a decent cut.
Okay, thanks for posting. I had not seen that film. I used to wonder why some men were all gaga over her when she was on Cheers. She seemed kinda big-boned and beefy to me. Now I see it wasn’t her — it was those ridiculous 1980s shoulder pads! (I always cut them out of my clothes as soon I bought them, as I had no desire to look like a football player.)
Star Ricardo Montalban was hailed as Khan......
said he wanted to do the sequel so badly he took
far less money than he usually made.

How would they done a sequel with Khan? He was blown up on the USS Reliant at the end.
III was one of the weakest in the series.
At the time she was a relatively unknown actress and no way would have commanded the salary of say Chekhov or Uhura.
Sequel to 1.
Star Trek III was way better than Star Trek V.
He means Wrath of Khan is the sequel to the TV series ep. “Space Seed”. Montalban was great glad he did the part at a pay cut!
Well, she clearly had better options anyway. No need to work for peanuts when you can have cashews.
No doubt.
Oh ok! I thought he was referring to a movie sequel.
Spock died in the same movie. Spock came back by being coffined on the Genesis planet, right? Khan was killed by the Genesis device. They could have easily worked around that.

Don’t worry...they will!
