The fitness/overweight thing isn’t a hoax, and was getting worse for decades before the word “woke” was even coined.
A lot of PE in public schools went the way with liability lawsuits. The US is in general far more lethargic than it used to be. Watching TV instead of playing put many in their coffins, and the Internet has nailed those coffins shut.
Why would anyone want to join the US Military unless they like the idea of being bullies and thugs attacking the rest of the world? If someone wanted to defend the US they’d join the Texas militia.
Recruit illegal immigrants into the military, offering them citizenship for service, and very soon there will be a permanent Democrat Party majority.
Of course, they will be encouraged to have many children born in the USA and thus US citizens and Democrat voters.
The objective is to replace the US population with immigrants and loyal Democrat Party voters.
It’s a hoax and CYA for a woke and broke military. Stop the woke and they will get recruits.
Women on the whole are underrepresented, which is a good thing, because men soldiers are a better investment on all fronts -- strength, endurance, resiliency, aggression -- with the lone exception of off-duty discipline. Women are far less likely to end up in the brig or the lock-up in the local 'ville.'
Women soldiers (pardon the oxymoron) cost more to clothe, more to house, more for medical care, but -- compared to men -- underperform on all physically and tactically-relevant tasks. Men soldiers yield a far better ROI, and the defense budget is finite.
However, minority women in the military significantly outnumber White women, not merely per capita but in in raw numbers. Which suggests that that either minority women are more likely to feel called to service for reasons of patriotism than White women, or that they've joined to get on the Equal Opportunity gravy train. You do the math.
Meddle with the proven successful formula of the US Armed Forces by application of social engineering and what you'll end up with is Facebook with guns.
I’m no expert or nuthin.
What a disgrace to the memory of what the Corps used to be...
From a motto of "A few good men" to a Motto of "Lots of Faggs, Trannies, Girls, and Foreigners"...
Why do they want war with Russia?
Who knew that Corporal Klinger was just a little ahead of his time.
Ping.
Ah, but THIS was one of the final steps of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Republic, then the Roman Empire into their collapse into the barbarian invasions of the Dark Ages.
“Selling” the Roman military into whoever would get paid.
And the Roman pratoriate Guard (er, FBI-NSA-CIA-DHS-IRS-DOJ led the way of protecting their dictatorship.
Ah, but this is nothing like the final steps of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Republic, which wasn't a republic but a hereditary oligarchy that ruled an empire before there was a fulltime emperor.
After the transformation of the polity characterized by the addition of a fulltime chief executive began, life in, and the cultural capital of, the Empire was so attractive, and the Roman army so effective (and relatively small) that the various ethnic groups under Roman rule became romanized.
Augustus reorganized the Roman army after the defeat and death of Marc Antony, reducing the regular army to 28 legions, formally adding 28 legions of auxiliaries from conquered or allied peoples, and establishing the Praetorian Guard for imperial security and as the Roman police force (absurdly small, considering the population of Rome exceeded a million for a while, and was generally over a half million for centuries).
The Julio-Claudian Dynasty ended with the suicide of Nero and three short-lived successors from other old posh families. They were replaced by Vespasian, a proud mule-breeder and upwardly mobile career soldier who straightened out the previously expanding mess.
Recruits into the regular legions began to reflect the romanized non-Roman and non-Italian populations of the Empire by 100 AD.
During the Antonine Plague (smallpox? influenza? measles?) there was a great deal of difficulty in recruiting of the army. Had it not been for the plague spreading into barbarian areas, that could have been lights out.
The Crisis of the Third Century followed the rule of the Severan Dynasty -- Septimius Severus began it, and was openly proud of his purported Carthaginian roots. Good move, making him Emperor.
The five years or so of Aurelian helped stabilize the crisis, but after his murder, another period of chaos ensued, which was ended by Diocletian. In the western Empire, no solution was available to the several generations of devolution, characterized by population cratering, mass migration by familiar and unfamiliar barbarians. Having divided rule and a standardized system of succession didn't long endure.
The loss of the Roman army left populations lacking a tradition of self-defense as sitting ducks against the onslaught.
And thus, those who refuse to learn from history, decline and die again.
Our combat forces will be robots. Learn from that.
The whole game is to keep lowering recruiting standards, spending our treasures like a drunken sailor, giving US weapons and munitions to Ukraine... and going broke while going WOKE.
Wouldn't it be easier to just surrender? Or IS that the plan?
True.
