I worked for Ronald Reagan and learned the secret of who he was

Birthdays are important to celebrate – yes, as milestones, but also as markers of significance. And consequence. One hundred and twelve years ago Monday, on February 6, 1911, Ronald Wilson Reagan was born in Tampico, Illinois. He is remembered and celebrated all these years later – not because he is gone – but because of how he lived. The legacy he left behind both inspires and, in part, mystifies us still.

He has been analyzed and scrutinized from every angle, yet the magical formula or "secret recipe" of Ronald Reagan all these years later seems as elusive as ever. What was behind his indisputable success? Can his ability to communicate and connect with others be imitated? Learned? What about his capacity to rally people to support him? Not just enthusiastically agree with his ideas, but truly evangelize for Reaganism – or more importantly – Americanism. Was the essence of Ronald Reagan uniquely his and will never be replicated? Or is there still an undiscovered element to his past which could inform our future?

Perhaps it was that he simply knew who he was. He also knew who we wanted him to be – and in many ways those were the same thing. This enhanced his success since it was naturally who he already was. Ronald Reagan was authentic and unapologetic about who he was – and who he wasn’t. We as a nation were lucky.

Ronald Reagan saw the democrat party for what it was back in 1964. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXBswFfh6AY

Reagan had to overcome Carter.
Don’t get me wrong; I’d take Carter right now over Biden, but s**t got pretty damned bad in the late 70s and early 80s

Dems hated Reagan, Nixon (who ended the Viet Nam war) and Trump.

Carter was just in over his head, and had wrong ideas, but I think meant well.

Biden is just evil. And he isn’t worthy to shine Jimmy Carter’s shoes.

He cared more for the Citizens and the Constitution than he did for Party, and himself. That made him unique to Presidents in my lifetime. Right or Wrong, he was trying his best to look out for the Nation and its people. He understood the problems with FedGov and it’s risk to our freedoms. Even the Iran-Contra scandal was brought on by an attempt to prevent Soviet expansion in this hemisphere, not by personal greed.

The Demonrats were taken over by Socialists in 1896, when they deposed center-right Bourbonite Grover Cleveland in favor of the nutters. They’ve been Communist since after 1972 (Communist sympathizers long before that) and even more totalitarian and evil with each passing year.

I always liked the story of a democrat coming into his office and ranting for half an hour. After he left, Reagan said, “I wonder what was bothering him?”

Who is the politician in 2023 closest to Reagan in outlook and politics?

I miss him, too!

Who can forget "Morning In America?"

History will judge Ronald Reagan for the greatness he deserves. I believe he will be in the same league as Washington and Jefferson.

Having been a young family man when he came to power, I can honestly say his tenure was one of the best in my life.

A great time to be alive -- and great memories.

You made me go look up Bourbonite, and yes, it seems to mean what I thought it did. Oh, for the days when the worst we had in the White House was a drunkard!

I worked for Reagan’s PAC in the 90s - Citizen for the Republic. Never met him but visited his office. Worked with Bay Buchanan and was fortunate enough to meet a lot of great people.

If you fed Scrabble letter tiles to Jimmy Carter’s dog, what would pass would make more sense and be less evil than PedoJoe.

Love RWR -
and our PDJT The GOAT is the best we have now.
Sorry all you Ronettes, the FL Gov is NOT the man of the hour, not yet.

But ALL leaders make mistakes.
Some small, some really big.

Mulford Axt was a really bad move by the CA GOV.
“There’s no reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying loaded weapons,”

Patriot Act - a horror show

Coof Mandates and school closures were really bad too-

Less power in government hands is the answer-
Maximum Liberty, for all.

In fact, in terms of the ex living Presidents, I would actually have Carter second behind Trump in who I admire, albeit it’s a pretty far dropoff, LOL!

This article reminded me of something Peggy Noonan wrote, long before she turned to the dark side.

"Was Ronald Reagan an actor as president? Yes. But he was always playing Ronald Reagan."
