President Joe Biden’s (D) administration is reportedly allowing states to use Medicaid for food and nutritional counseling, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The Journal reported Sunday that policy makers are trying to determine whether “food as medicine” programs can enhance health and also save money, the outlet said:
A growing body of research suggests that addressing food insecurity can improve health as well as deliver savings by reducing medical visits, the need for medication, or by helping control serious illness. The programs have also appealed to some GOP lawmakers who believe states should have more control over their Medicaid programs.

So, food stamps, WIC, SNAP, free school meals for the whole family, general welfare payments, all combined and they still don’t have food? Where did all that money go?
If medicaid dollars go to groceries then clearly all those other programs can be ended.
I see ads all the time for senior health plans that cover food...utilities...and transportation to medical appointments.
Those are Medicare advantages plans, some offer a lot of extra benefits, some don’t, also there are special needs plans for seniors who get both Medicare and medicaid
More free stuff to buy votes. It’s free to Medicaid recipients because they don’t work. It’s not free or available to people who work and pay taxes. This also bastardizes the notion of healthcare. They are intentionally blurring the lines of what is and is not healthcare. Although it’s not like that hasn’t already been done. Murdering unborn babies is healthcare. Genital mutilation and sterilization are healthcare.

Is it admission that the food programs have failed?
Are there some people who just don’t want to eat nutritous food? Not feed their kids nutritous food?
How do we mandate their way of thinking?
Beware to avoid over generalizing. It isn’t everyone on food stamps and medicaid. But it is a significant number.
From the taxpayer to the toilet. Groceries end up in the toilet.
I know exactly one person on Medicaid. He’s 5’5” and weighs at least 250lbs.
That and the fact that SNAP has gone up over 40% the last two years. We are on a runaway train.
You gotta eat before you can get sick.
