In theory, the federal government is the people’s servant: Our money pays for it, and our votes populate the political seats. In return, we expect the government to perform basic functions, among which are safe, reliable transportation and disaster assistance. In fact, the federal government, although happy to use its police and judicial power to take our money and willing to engage in the pretense of free and fair elections, has disengaged entirely from the American people.
Nothing shows that more clearly than the Biden administration’s disinterest in the sufferings of the people in East Palestine, Ohio, where a train derailment and possibly inept post-derailment management has turned it into America’s Bhopal.
Admittedly, that introductory paragraph packs in a surprisingly large number of concepts, so let me unpack them.
On February 3, a train carrying dangerous chemicals, including vinyl chloride, derailed in East Palestine, Ohio. The cars carrying toxins began to leak so, allegedly to get the trains back on schedule, someone came up with the bright idea that cleanup would go more quickly if the leaking chemicals were burned.
That burn caused a giant plume of Phosgene, the WWI gas that killed 85,000 troops, to descend on East Palestine. Local animals (mammals, birds, and fish) died in droves, while residents began to show symptoms of having been gassed. Other chemicals were found to have spilled, and they joined the vinyl chloride in the Ohio River, which flows all the way down to Kentucky. All the chemicals are carcinogens.

What we are witnessing is the worst chemical disaster in America in my lifetime. Thankfully, it hasn’t reached Bhopal, India, proportions (3,700-16,000 deaths and 558,125 injuries), but it is a crisis.

Cynical people (among whom I count myself) suspect that the problem is that East Palestine is almost entirely white and, even more criminally (in Democrat eyes), occupies a county that gave over 71% of its votes to Donald Trump in 2020.
The governor of Ohio is a Republican and, as far as I know, he’s not making a stink about being abandoned by the Feds. What a cuck.
Recall that during the February 2021 Texas freeze, Biden refused to grant temporary environmental waivers to power plants. That decision expanded the extent of power outages, and the extent of power outages killed people.
The “d” activists only follow orders from the higher “D”.
Not much independent thought.
A republican would have been chased out of the country.
Because it’s a “red state” like what Obama did with GM dealerships forcing them to close?
Whoever at the EPA thought this was a good idea needs immediate dismissal and banishment from the USA.
They don’t have enough bribe money.

🚨 #BREAKING: Just MOMENTS after Donald Trump announced his trip to East Palestine, FEMA reversed their decision and will FINALLY send federal aid!
Coincidence?

Nothing in the US Constitution gives Congress the power to create anyone of these agencies, unless you wildly contort the general welfare clause. Their responsibilities can be handled by the States. In fact, every state has some kind of emergency management agency, a DOT and environment agency. There is triple redundancy with many counties and cities.
You want to know why our government is eff’d up? No one takes responsibility. Christ, government scumbag employees can’t even be responsible for going into work. They are too busy watching porn at home, or breastfeeding like Pete Buttplug.
Mike DeWine said Biden would win Ohio. He believes in big government. He’s not a civil libertarian.
bttt
What’s the last time you saw democrats outraged about another democrat? Buttigieg is the secretary of transportation. Last I heard he is a democrat. There will be no outrage.
FEMA is not really supposed to provide aid for something like this because it is the responsibility of Norfolk Southern.
If FEMA does provide aid they would have to show that Norfolk Southern was not doing so or meeting the need and then the government will sue them for cost recovery.
Mayor Pete should have gone there and told Norfolk Southern to bring a really big check book and start writing. FEMA was never supposed to be a “first responder” agency - they were just a checkbook to come in and reimburse state and local communities in the event of a natural disaster.
This is how government grows and this crap started after Katrina because the left used the “lack of federal response” to hurt Bush so congress fell all over themselves and ballooned FEMA who immediately went about buying semi-trucks and pole building warehouses full of plastic water bottles and blankets that dry rotted as all the new federal employees sat around watching Oprah in brand new leased FEMA offices.
What a waste. State and local municipalities have the necessary resources. FEMA should go back to being a checkbook to help reimburse them and they should contract with Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, Kirkland, and major trucking lines for first priority to move supplies more cheaply and efficiently in the event of a disaster.
Pothole Pete tanked his Presidential aspirations.
Oh noes...now we get Kamala!
They are acting inert because my guess is that this is a terrorist attack.
CornPop Joe instigated it and here we are.
I wish trump would have left the rules alone. This would not have happened. Yes we were thrilled that trump was busting all Obama regulations but this one wasn’t a good one.
Wikipedia says nothing about phosgene being produced by burning vinyl chloride.
This is just a train accident. Not a failure of our govrrnment.

You would think, but Biden and Fetterman don't speak English and they were "elected."
