“We need armed men assigned to schools.”
........................
No Jon, WE NEED TO RETURN TO FAITH IN GOD, thru Jesus Christ.
Have you noticed that such faith is waning fast?
2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Obviously, you don't know too much.
That may very well be but I still believe that most teachers even if forced to take training will not use a gun in a school
FACT: 98% of mass-shootings occur in gun-free zones

Presented with headlinethat this man is mean and careless.
Reality is he is correct. What are you going to do?
Actually, better, but meaner, if he had acknowledged that the culture has to change. BACK before hippie nonsense of selfish laziness and indulgence. Pre Dr. Spock days.
When I was at the University of Tennessee (1977-1983) the journalism department was headed by liberal Democrats and most of the students were leftist liberal idiots. That was my first indoctrination of the bias of the MSM and reporters. My thoughts are reinforced daily with what I observe by today’s MSM.
I always had the impression that Tennessee was actually one of the more conservative public universities in the country.
Well-said and well-stated. I am in total agreement and can't improve upon what you wrote.
I also have thoughts on why there are so many more school shootings these days than in the past but that will need to be for another thread. Maybe it's own thread.
Before leaving that thought, I posted a largely empirical article last year on school shootings. In reality, school shootings, while awful and certainly worth examining to understand and minimize, aren't statistically eventful.
A time-series analysis to determine empirically if they're more prevalent today vs yesterday would be fruitful (someone has to break out their econometrics textbooks).
The "why" question remains a biggie. I suspect there are many "whys." FR has a way of bring out the best minds on a subject; if I find a relevant, cogent article on the topic I'll ping you. I look forward to reading folks' thoughts.
There’s little comparison between finance risk management & threat management. Some, but little.
Frankly, the left’s response to hazards/risks - either in planning or reaction - is the antithesis of risk management.
Obviously.
Even faced with facts & data, there is no rational debate with these dumbasses, and some of them are on OUR side (labels, e.g., gop). For example, if it was ME, I’d have answered the question “arming teachers” and ‘resource officers’ (no more gun-free zones).
His response was totally out of touch with reality. Rather elitist and leaning left, IMHO. If he was my rep he’d be targeted for replacement next cycle.
Yes, but much more than that.
We need to adhere to the RULES in the Judeo-Christian religions.
And that means “JUDGING” some rather than having Christianity on Steroids (which is really what liberals do) of “non-judgementalism” and being nice all the time. Nice is not = good.
IOW, THE CULTURE NEEDS TO CHANGE EVERYWHERE.
We need more morals in practice, rather than just preaching it. And enforcing it.
Burchett apparently doesn’t know that such personal questions aren’t asked innocently.
Best not to answer personal questions. Ever. Now, someone has been supplied with information useful to maniacs who want to make political points.
There are a serious contingent of liberal Democrats there at Tennessee indoctrinating kids. The ones I encountered were arrogant and used their positions to negatively affect those that thought differently. I was a recently discharged veteran and the sandal wearing liberals made it difficult on those of us that were out of the military. The stench from the California and NY universities occluded our olfactories there often.
First, defend yourself against being shot, then say a novena.
Yes for years we have talked ad nauseam about the easy fix for schools which just never seems to happen. A armed officer at the front door just like at the bank.
Hello Gov DeSantis.
Burchett is my Congressman (we call him Mayor Tim) and he was a small business man that was railroaded by the City Council so he beat them at their own game and was elected County Mayor. On his best days he’s madder than hell, hates both political parties and lives every day focused on common sense solutions. He’s very aware he’ll be misquoted in every interview. He ain’t skeered. He may not go far in Washington but he’ll never toe the party line.
Is the deranged teacher gonna provide a “drop gun” and edit over the school’s cameras?
Him drawing down on unarmed kids is gonna get him in trouble.
The officer, deputy or others drop in to the schools at odd times, leaving a well marked car in the parking lot.
But to the point of the article, anyone who is ready and willing to die can inflict much more carnage on a school than happened in Nashville whether there are armed guards or not.
Politicians don’t want real solutions.. next thing you know people will start asking why we need politicians.
