Hasbro has decided to discontinue a Trolls World Tour doll after widespread criticism and false claims were made by some parents online.
The controversy began when a woman posted a video of the DreamWorks Trolls World Tour Giggle & Sing Poppy toy on Instagram. Sold at Walmart and marketed to children four and older, the doll sings and giggles when a button is pressed.
Instagram user redpillbabe took issue with the placement of the button on the doll, alleging that the button was placed near the doll's "private parts" in an attempt to groom children.
"Go I dare you. Tell me I'm crazy. In what morphed dimension of the simulation IS THIS OK? how do you cognitive dissonance this away?" the Instagram user wrote in a caption alongside the video. "They're attacking your children and you just keep calling the people telling you 'crazy' God be with us. Some people really won't see the problem here."

When is it appropriate for a news outlet to determine truth or falsehood? Should they not offer both sides before explaining why they consider claims to be false?

Wow. “Near the private parts”? I’d say that’s right on them and this was fully intentional on the part of the company.
Looks more like the Taint to me.
That’s not “near” the private parts.
For any Hasbro product design, there have to be multiple layers of review and approval before the item is mass produced and sold to the public.
It’s disheartening to see this.

It may be, but the complaints about placement are real and justified. Whether or not they meant to sexualize it.
Exactly right. Not one person in the review and approval chain said "maybe we need to rethink the placement of the button on this toy?" They knew what they were doing.

I have noticed recently, some toys kids are playing with in ads for other adult things are in rainbow colors lately. And, I barely watch tv.
