This is so upsetting. People are social media are disgusting with the comments that made against these people in the sub because they are billionaires. Our society is demented.

They should have gone to Disney to get some of their Marvel freakshow heroes to find the sub.

As I noted prior, there must be a lot of 50 year old white men that are breathing a sigh of relief after being REJECTED from jobs at that company.

“People are social media are disgusting with the comments that made against these people in the sub because they are billionaires.”

In one of the cases, the CEO, his comments about the majority of people here were INSULTING and UNCALLED FOR, and also wound up quite possibly costing him his life.

There’s no way to be sure, as of now, if the statement in the headline is true or not.

This is one of those things where being wealthy is a detriment. The average person doesn’t have the money to do things like this even if they wanted to.

That said, I was all for searching for them because we should care for our fellow man even when they make silly decisions. Could be ourselves at any given time.

Billionaires or not and regardless of ticket price, I would have done my due diligence in checking this out before going on that ride. I hate being stuck in a plane for four hours and I’m being paid to do that. Not a chance I’d get in that thing and go 2.5 miles underwater with >2 tons psi trying to smoosh the cramped vehicle I’m in, much less for 8-12 hours.

I think it probably ran out of oxygen the moment it imploded.

Yet you can't really blame people for being somewhat derisive. The passengers were people who had ridiculous amounts of money, who chose to go on a very risky trip which served no purpose other than satisfying their own desire for a thrill. It wasn't a scientific expedition that was going to increase our understanding of anything. And now that same group of very wealthy and reckless people, is costing everyone else millions of dollars in fruitless rescue efforts.

The entire thing is particularly galling to many, because ROVs can, and have, provided the same views/images, or better, than the passengers were getting from being down there in that carbon fiber coffin.

It is difficult to feel much compassion or remorse for people who had more wealth and luxury than the vast majority of humanity can even imagine, and they squandered their good fortune and comfortable lives on an entirely unnecessary, and ultimately fatal, trip.

Also, I would put this in the “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes” category.

I fear this will go from a ‘rescue’ to a ‘recovery’ operation, all too soon.

Just heard this morning that Stockton Rush’s wife great-great grands died on Titanic. They were featured on just about every movie made about the sinking. They were the elderly couple where the wife refused to get on board a lifeboat, opting to stay with her husband of 40 years.

I have no idea what the comments are on Twitter that you say are disgusting but there is one thing I do know. The department of the Navy is sending resources out to try and retrieve the sub. This is the same department of the Navy that has issued a 96% denial rate for disability claims due to Camp Lejeune toxicity claims (my husband's included) and has also answered the PACT act preliminary claims with, “They knew there were dangers when they signed”. So forgive me if my thoughts on taxpayer funding of a rescue mission for billionaire tourists offends you. I'm just having a hard time reconciling the expenditure of our tax dollars on this as opposed to being told, “you're on your own” by the same entity that pumped toxic water into “water buffalos” and carted them out to our soldiers to drink for weeks at a time as they trained.

Very sad. Criminal negligence. At the least why was there no submarine emergency position-indicating radio beacon?

www.saphotonics.com
The benefit of the SA Photonics SSEPIRB is the unique combination of energy harvesting and energy storage systems that increase reliability and shelf life and reduce maintenance. Our self-powered SEPIRB has a shelf life of more than 10 years and an energy harvesting system that can efficiently generate power from the surrounding environment for more than the minimum 48 hours. Redundant linear generators are used to generate energy from wave motion, and instead of using traditional rechargeable batteries which may limit the lifespan and shelf-life of a SEPIRB, energy for the SA Photonics system is stored in high tech. quick charge subsystems which have almost unlimited charge/discharge cycles with no degradation of performance. High reliability power sources supplement the energy charging system to provide a fast first charge of the system and to minimize time to first position fix and the first distress signal transmission.

As I posted on another thread, it’s not because they are billionaires per se. It’s the fact that they had more than enough money to do this whole thing safely but they STILL cut corners. And yes, I find the absurdity of this to be funny. Wokeism and hubris encounter reality.

Agreed, THey billionaire statements are made by commies.

But IMHO, we can issue 5 Darwin Awards.

The operation was sophomoric.

Well this is sad. But at least they made sure not to hire any of those 50 year old White Guys who actually know what they’re doing. I’m sure everybody in that sub feels better knowing they achieved a high DEI score prior to their death at the bottom of the ocean.
