Here's Why Ron DeSantis Decided to Run For President In 2024 and Not 2028

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla) revealed why he decidednot to wait until 2028— or when former President Trump was out of the picture— to run for the GOP nomination.

Outkick host Tomi Lahren asked DeSantis about voters who argued the governor should have waited for his "turn" to run in 2028 rather than 2024 against Trump, rejecting the idea that anyone is entitled to a turn at running for president.

"First of all, in America, we don't have turns. People can run if they believe they have something to offer the country. I can tell you as somebody that's worn the country's uniform, who served in Iraq, who believes in a cause greater than myself, I believe 2024 is make or break," DeSantis said.

The governor echoed recent claims saying that he is the one who can beat President Joe Biden.

"I believe 2024 is make or break. I don't think we have time for excuses. I've shown the ability to defeat the Democrats," he added. "Yes, at the ballot box by winning Florida by a historic margin, but also on issue after issue."

DeSantis told Lahren that his ability to take action and "walk the walk." has proven that he will deliver promises to Americans, citing his successful handling of lockdowns, education, and transgender athletes competing with women and illegal migrants.

Despite the Florida governor being behind in the polls, DeSantis has dismissed negative reactions, saying he is running to win in January and February— not "to juice polling now."

A recent Marquette University Law School Poll found that while Trump led DeSantis by only one percentage point in the GOP primary field, DeSantis beat Trump by a whopping 57 to 41 percent when asked whom they would vote for in a head-to-head matchup between the two rivals.

Political analyst Robert Collins told Newsweek that DeSantis's decision to run in 2024 was "bold," arguing that the governor is a young candidate with time to wait for the next election cycle.

"Some candidates feel that they only get one shot, and if they don't take their shot in time, the moment will pass them by, and the attention of the voters will shift elsewhere," Collins said. "DeSantis is young enough to wait and run for president in a future cycle. However, DeSantis is placing a bet that he thinks that eventually a criminal conviction will remove Trump from the race and give DeSantis a clear shot at the nomination."

Trump previously criticized DeSantis for running against him, calling him "disloyal." The 45th president claimed that without his endorsement, DeSantis would not have secured the Republican nomination for Florida governor in 2018.

Thank you. That was a satisfactory response.

Good info on Ramaswamy, too.

Trump took a loan against collateral commercial property within standard rates- he’s historically been a difficult borrower (since he avails himself of the full range of options) so can’t go with some of standbys you would normally get for a class 1 property (insurance, CMBS, etc)- he found the best deal from the lenders available. Its no different than taking a mortgage loan or banking or investing with a leftist org (JPMorgan Chase, Fannie Mae, Blackrock etc). I doubt there are many lenders in any CRE space that are not “leftist” in one way or another.

In other words - Trump is a Globalist.

He ran because he thought he could get away with it, but his arrogance got the best of him. Crash and burn Meatball.

I’m largely ambivalent re Israel, save for the considerable influence they play upon America. They are akin to the Ukraine in my view, and slightly worse than the insolent Western European countries. Israel runs its foreign and national policy independently for its own benefit- in the Biden administration there is not inconsiderable meddling but I support that as little as I do Israel boosterism- I merely want the USA to be free to do the same. Ron DeSantis signed a bill restricting the free speech rights of American citizens in Florida at the behest of dual loyalist donors- he signed it in Israel- which is staggeringly bad optics. Its true I dislike my nation being beholden to foreigners- but this is true for all of the multitude of entangling alliances and relationships. Israel is just one of many, if a more obvious and demanding one.

If President Trump manages to get re- elected, he will go back to being the most Pro- Israel President l ever, deal with it. Dual loyalty that is another antisemitic word.

I’m also learning (no surprise, really) that Jared and Ivanka are serious Soros stooges. WEF acolytes and everything.

FWIW

"His wife told him he had to, his donors promised to make him rich, and the Soros-tied grifters and dual loyalists..."

What does it say about a Presidential candidate that uses the State Legislature to pass a law that keeps his travel records secret? As of May, nobody has the right to know his past and future travels, including where he goes, who he meets with, and the reason why. He claims it's for security reasons. I say it's B.S., and he's nothing but a Sneaky Pete."

I mean, he licenses his name to properties and RE developments globally, so that is inherently globalist. I do not think that he is enmeshed in the psychology of globalism, certainly not so much as your standard USA businessman (and def not a career politician) circa 2023...unfortunately we inhabit, for the time being a beast economic system, we are all forced into some measure of compliance....

The WEF itself claimed Vivek was a Young Leader. Why? To discredit him amongst conservatives. Vivek took them to court and won. The WEF lied.

See upthread my post 34 about Vivek being a “soros fellow”.

It was Paul, not George. Some people may claim that is a difference without a distinction, but it was Trump who took 160 Million from Papa George.

As a Floridian, I’m not seeing any dereliction of duty by the governor, but I might’ve missed something. Perhaps you could supply some examples to back up your claims?

Didn't Floridians elect De Santis to be a full-time governor? Over the next year, he will be traveling all around the country campaigning and raising money rather than attending to the affairs of his state. That was a major reason that California voters rejected Richard Nixon when he ran for governor. Many figured that he would use the state house as a stepping stone to the White House.

"I'm a veteran! Did I tell you I'm a veteran?? Gak...Wear it on your sleeve! DeSantos should get an arm band. I'm a veteran!"

A while back he said that he believed Presidential candidates should have all served in the military. Funny how he's the only one of the current candidates who served? He's beginning to sound like John "I served in Vietnam" Kerry.

De Santis has been formed by his handlers. In other words he’s just an actor reading from the right script at this time. Trump is the real deal.

I agree. And what exactly is a Globalist anyway?

Around here it is used as an unkind euphemism against DeSantis.

Whatever. But what really sucks is those (on this thread even)(not you of course) but someone else who insults DeSantis’s military service.
