The year that broke US politics: what 1968 can tell us about 2024

piritual messages made the Rev Billy Graham famous, but it was a different sort of message that he transmitted to Lyndon B Johnson in September 1968. Earlier that tumultuous year, the president announced on live television that he would not run for re-election. The race to succeed him pitted the current vice-president, Hubert H Humphrey, against a previous VP, Richard Nixon. An anti-establishment third-party candidate, George Wallace, a segregationist former governor of Alabama, was attracting unexpected support, amid backlash to Johnson’s Great Society reforms.

Graham’s message to Johnson came from Nixon and contained an unorthodox proposal. If elected, Nixon offered to make a variety of conciliatory gestures to Johnson, from avoiding criticism to meeting him for consultations, even crediting him with a role in ending the Vietnam war, once it was finally over.

***The race to succeed him pitted the current vice-president, Hubert H Humphrey,***

So soon they have forgotten about the Democrat front runner who had everything going for him, until a Palestinian Immigrant shot him dead. Bobby Kennedy. And the US descended into a mad house. That one killing did more to turn the US up side down, and it is still with us today.

A fascinating read, The Watergate Amendment, by John Fitzgerald. Up to now the greatest political maneuver in US History. Nixon, Wallace, Ford, Agnew, Johnson and Rockefeller, Kissinger, all played their part switching roles in the White House. Through the design and implementation of the 25th Amendment.
Unleavable: Until now.

2008 was a HUGE change.

Obama unapologetically and without much fan fare (”no Drama Obama”) ripped the mask off the otherwise chameleon Left to show what the Totalitarian Left and their agenda and intentions really are.

Getting away with that, Obama led the way for otherwise unseen coalition and unified aggression by the Delusional Lying Left. He continues to this day from behind that green curtain over there that you’re not supposed to notice, by directing Biden and the Left.

“Lead from behind” - isn’t that one of his favorite sayings?

IOW, if you’re a horse’s ass, you qualify to lead the Confused and Delusional Lying Left.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Even Reagan liked RFK, on the night of the assassination they interviewed Reagan, and Reagan remarked that RFK sounded more conservative than the other Republicans.

Bobby Kennedy himself would have turned the US up side down as we see the disastrous effects of his brother, Teddy, to this day.

Thank God a flawed Nixon was elected rather than the Leftist Political Worshipper Kennedy.

There was so much about 1968 that was not 2024, and so much about 2023/4 that is not 1968. Most time-frame political analogies are false, because the contexts are nearly always too dissimilar.

After 2008, we are in unchartered territory.

We failed to enforce the Constitution at every level. We failed to ask if a candidate was connected to/employed/ or otherwise sponsored by the US ‘intelligence apparatus’. I think here is when outright, before perhaps hidden, but outright contamination of government against the public became acceptable.

We don’t even have free and fair elections anymore, but only about 60% of Americans get that. The Republic is dead, yet most treat the cadaver as a living thing, so as not to draw attention to the new form of government that rules.

In 1968 people would have been appalled at a POTUS assigning a dirty prosecutor to be special council to get his son and his dirty dealing out of the public eye. Now, the same media that cried ‘watergate’ ignores obvious Treasonous sell outs.

RFK was no loss and a crack like that doesn’t mean that Reagan liked him.

JFK was a worse pervert than Clinton, by far, a true deviant.

JFK was the last Democrat who became President who actually loved the United States. Kennedy was the last right-of-center Democrat POTUS. The last Dem POTUS to propose tax cuts. (Maybe technically LBJ because that sorry sad sack got the Kennedy tax cuts passed after Kennedy’s death)

JFK was a lefty that brought destruction to the United States and ran on his dream of replacement immigration, and chain migration, he brought in affirmative action and unionized the federal government, not to mention Vietnam.

JFK’s election is what killed us.

We should never have nominated a certain candidate in 1988.

It helped immensely that the GOP nominee in both 2008 and 2012 served as the campaign managers for Zero, their alleged “opponent.”

Imagine if we had had ex-OK Gov. Frank Keating as the nominee in 2008, the very FBI agent who pursued Zero’s domestic terrorist mentors, the Ayers’s.

Except Nixon’s time was 1960. By 1968, it was too late and the damage done by JFK-LBJ was immense.
