The thing is that Russia is also winning in Ukraine. The US and NATO needed to be aggressive in February of 2022, including using Budapest Memorandum to intervene on Ukraines behalf and using our ability to drill baby drill to crash oil proces worldwide. Amd also significantly reduce our dependence on China, which would hurt both China and Russia. Our half hearted measures have only served to cause the Bear to get hardened.
Another thing is that we are not rearming anywhere fast enough (we cant keep up amd no one wants to invoke the defense production act), our governments are now fabiam socialist kleptrocracies, inept in tjeir policies, military recruitment is in the toilet throughoutthe West (sans Poland, which is now working on their own nukes along with Taiwan), and China and Russia are allies in Communism.

Even though we are not yet producing as much weapons and amunition as we should, the processes to do so have started. and Finland and Sweden are finally parts of NATO.
So in essence, the West is in a stronger position than it was 2 years ago. But there is a lot more to do.

We may have involved ourselves in Europe for WW1, but we were wanted there.
