A majority of American adults would not be willing to serve in the military were the U.S. to enter into a major war, recent polling has found, while public confidence in the armed forces appears to be waning.
The figures come as all branches of the armed forces have in recent years struggled to meet their recruitment targets, suggesting a growing apathy towards a career of military service. In 2023, the Army and Air Force fell short of their respective goals by around 10,000 recruits, while the Navy was under by 6,000. Since 1987, the number of active-duty personnel has fallen by 39 percent.
Experts say that such shortfalls are worrisome in an increasingly volatile global picture with American leadership unsure when it will next have to bring its full military force to bear.
"We have strike groups, aircraft carriers with a Marine Expeditionary Unit outside Israel now," Justin Henderson, a former transport operator for the U.S. Marines turned military recruiter, told Newsweek. "We're funding two wars, but we're actually boots on the ground, drones above Gaza. So we're already involved in there—and we're not sure what's happening in Taiwan. So this is a very tumultuous time for us, because we don't know what's going to happen."

Why would anyone want to put their life at risk to defend a country and government that doesn’t honor the fact that they are Citizens of that nation and that are constantly being called white supremacist.
As far as I can see the game is over as is the nation.since its intentionally being overthrown by the Traitors in or Government.

Problem is, most of the time our military ends up fighting for other people’s countries.

Actually we are the ones who can honestly say that. We (most of us older FReepers, especially like me at age 77) remember the closeness of the Norman Rockwell paintings to the everyday life we saw around us.
By the way, my family and our house were photographed and appeared in the Detroit Edison Electric advertising campaign in the 1950s. I was on the floor putting together a 1954 Cadillac model. The pictures were in printed brochures, newspapers, magazines and at a big show like an auto show for housing and building supplies. Live Better Electrically. The illuminated pictures were about ten feet by five feet. Impressed me as a kid. By the way, I hate EVs.

Thing is a lot of people still hated FDR’s guts when Pearl Harbor happened, but it didn’t matter back then.

Heck, we may have to fight good portions of our country (e.g., woke folk and the sewers they thrive in) in order to get back a country worth fighting for.

Fight for their country? Or fight for arrogant, wealthy politicians whose object is to “transform” the country they’re fighting for, changing its demography, polluting its culture, ruining its children, stamping out the freedom that the elite no longer want it to represent? Give them back a country to fight for and then ask them that question.
I would fight again for the United States and the Representative Republic form of government...

I’ll fight for the pubs. It’s the last bastion of freedom for me. Me and my mates hoist a pint or two, I can forget the stress and problems of todays world. A game of darts don’t hurt. I was born two hundred years too late is my problem.
