Former U.S. Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn, who testified before the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack, announced Friday that he’s running for Congress.
Dunn is running for Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District, which is being vacated by retiring Rep. John Sarbanes (D) — a move that comes several months after suggesting on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that he might run for the district.
Dunn became a household name in 2021 when he testified before lawmakers about the Capitol riot, recounting how he had seen Capitol Police and Metropolitan Police Department officers being attacked that day and the racial slurs he and other Black police officers had received from people storming the Capitol.

I can see a political ad on the electric television featuring him claiming he “saved democracy” that day.

By contrast, Lazarus testified that he saw Dunn already standing at the top of the staircase landing when he came up from behind him on those stairs. Both men lied in their conflicting stories because Lazarus was in a Senate office building at that moment in time.
It is a physical impossibility for either Dunn or Lazarus to have seen what they claimed in their testimonies in the Oath Keepers trial, and this is borne out by what myself and other @theblaze analysts saw on Capitol CCTV videos from access given to us by @RepLoudermilk.”

Running for office to avoid prosecution for perjury... that is, if he was ever under oath during his testimony before the kangaroo hearing, or if he testified against anyone specific.
