Trump’s team reached out to RFK Jr. ‘early on’ about serving as VP: ‘Wouldn’t write it off’

People close to former President Trump made preliminary overtures to Robert F. Kennedy about the possibility of serving as his running mate, The Post has learned.

“Trump operatives expressed an interest in Kennedy early on, but it was all premature,” said one person familiar with the matter, adding that it was “right out of the box when Bobby announced” in April 2023 he was running for president.

“Anything’s possible. I wouldn’t write it off by any means,” the insider continued.

President Trump does not agree with you about RFK Jr.

You may want to think about why that is.

This is laughable. RFK has exposed the fraud of a vaccine foisted and forced upon the electorate. Trump takes credit for the “safe and effective” shot.

Seriously? Those dates that you posted about Trump are in March 2020.

That's when DeSantis locked down Florida. That's when DeSantis praised Fauci.

And the DeSantis quarantine for travelers (from some states) lasted longer than that.

You are entitled to your own views of course—but it is wise to at least be aware of why some intelligent folks might take another view.

Do you know how ugly RFKs second divorce was? I doubt it. Since he’s a Dem and a Kennedy the press hasn’t concentrated on it. They will open the floodgates if he runs with Trump.

LAUGH BREAK

John Hinderaker / FR Posted on 1/27/2024, 12:38:43 PM by Rummyfan

We dont have a president. Opinions vary as to who our “real” president is. Some say Barack Obama. Some say Jill Biden. Others say a network of Congressional political influence, and there’s the ubiquitous “Biden Administration.”

But one thing we know is that Joe Biden, who was at his best decades ago, dumb as a rock, but has recuperated mightily, and is now a “trusted beacon of Democrat leadership.”

By rights, Biden should be living out his last days in a wheel chair in a nursing home. Instead, by a bizarre twist of fate, he was tapped to run against Donald Trump as the “normal” candidate in 2020, and w/ help from voter fraud, managed to be elected president.

Now, in a truly wacko “Weekend at Bernie’s” moment, the Democrats apparently are going to run him up the flagpole again in 2024. It is hard to see any of this as something other than Democrats’ late-stage “democracy in action.”

Oh, here's more:

Trump often put on an anti-lockdown persona. But behind the scenes, his administration was pressuring states to remain shut down. April 14, 2020: “There are some states that want to open up now. If we disagree with it, we’re not gonna let them open.”

The Trump administration even pressured local officials to prolong mandates in defiance of state governors who wanted to reopen. “You started to have federal agencies working directly with local governments to impose restrictions over the state.”

Trump is the father of the lockdown. Own it. Have some integrity.

Counters:

(1) RFK Jr. could give President Trump a large margin in victory to overcome Democratic cheating.
(2) RFK Jr. believes the Deep State murdered his father and brother. He wants to get even. It is personal—and he will not take “no” for an answer.
(3) RFK Jr. has fought Big Pharma for decades against all odds and with mass media hate piled on him. That is called courage. Show me another VP candidate with that kind of courage.
(4) VP policy positions on a wide variety of issues do matter if they become president—but do not if they do not.
(5) Life insurance. Maybe I should make that number one. The Deep State will be happy to assassinate President Trump and take their chances on a gutless standard Republican politician who is VP. No way they would do that to face RFK Jr. who already hates their guts and wants to destroy them.
(6) It is a classic President Trump move. Break all the rules. Smash the Overton Window. Just win and the enemies will not even know what hit them. This is classic Sun Tzu tactics as well.

I’m open to it too. VPs don’t make policy, but they have been used to “balance” tickets all our lives..

Reagan used Bush to allay the fears of Reagan “extremism”.
Kennedy/Johnson, Johnson the “conservative” to balance the Boston Yankee.
Johnson/Humphrey, Humphrey the liberal Yankee.
Goldwater picked Miller, a NY Republican.
Biden was senior Yankee “statesman” with experience to cover for Barry’s lack of same.
