The jobless rate rose to 3.9%, up from 3.7% in January, even as employers added 275,000 jobs, the Labor Department said.
Its monthly report is being closely watched for clues into how the world's largest economy is absorbing the jump in borrowing costs since 2022.
The latest numbers sent mixed signals.
Overall, analysts said there was little in the report to fuel major worries or raise fears that the economy would be harmed by higher interest rates.
"Overall things still looking good," said Harvard professor Josh Furman, a former economic advisor to Barack Obama, on social media, while adding that the latest figures tilted the "balance of worry ever so slightly away from inflation and towards recession". The latest numbers sent mixed signals.

>>>Former economic advisor to Obama??
Yup, clueless then & clueless today.
I learned years ago that any numbers coming out of government is usually pure BS.
Well ... no mean tweets. So that's nice.
According to Shadow Stats
The real Unemployment rate is more like 25%
The real Inflation Rate is 7.9 %

Since August of 2021 at least 10 Million have dropped out of the work force.
And worth a lot when used for fertilizer.
Getting ‘surprising increases’ one month only to have them ‘adjusted’ the next is just fed meddling and lying about the numbers. If you want to see any growth, publish actual FICA payments.
And all based on fake gov’t numbers.
Also imagine what the UNDER employment rate is.
Many people are having to work 2 or more crappy jobs to survive.
Remember when Obama was in office. The adjusted numbers were always hiding worse data they didn’t want to release. So unemployment and inflation would go up when no one is looking. Then the release of the next report would be compared to the adjusted numbers to say things are improving.
THen Trump comes in and the data always went the other direction. The adjustments reflected better news.
It’s cheaper and better now to try and get disability. Or find a reason you can’t work and just get welfare. Get divorced. Have your now single mother get the welfare to feed the family and get free healthcare. And you get a job to pay for the luxeries.
The entire data supporting structure of this government is geared towards making Democrat Regimes look like they’re doing good. Most times, they have to twist and torture the numbers and then secretly change them when no one is looking. Lies, all lies.
And these figures are still incredibly padded.
Especially not looking good when you see the percentage of new guberment hires that produce nothing.
PUBLISH ADP reports..
THEY DO ALOT of USA payrolls.

Or she just awakened from a coma.
She is so proud Biden put something she requested in his speech.
How true. Lots of places looking for good help. I blame it on fallout from LBJ’s WAR ON POVERTY which paid people not to work.
Hasn’t the BBC heard? Biden’s doing a GREAT job with the economy. The economy is STRONG! Just ask the WH or the MSM.
