If you want to know about Islam go to an Islamic Center and ask an Imam. What is going on in this thread and too many others on FR is a vicious display of the lowest elements of hatred, racism and religious bigotry.

Or replay the videos of Sept. 11, 2001 for New York, Wash. D.C. and Pennsylvania. About 19 missionaries of Islam came to America, to preach their gospel. Pardon me, but if Americans remain a little "intolerant" at this time, it is normal.

You see, my tolerant friend, many have read extensively about Islam. Many are concerned, that Islam IS NOT PEACEFUL. We read about treatment of women, cutting off hands and legs, female circumcision, virtual absence of democracy. We read that the vast majority of wars today in the world, involve Islam.

It is Islam that needs to change, not our view of it (negative).

Sept. 11 killed 1700 muslims just as it killed people of many other religions. It was a terror attack by terrorists, not by god-fearing muslims. Yes it is a very peaceful religion, and many wars are not fought by muslims, the ones that are, are mostly against Jews, but thats a whole different story. But 1/5 of the world is of the Islam religion, ALL OVER THE WORLD, From Africa to Europe, AMerica, China, Middle East, and the Americas. So you have to speak relatively.

According to the Koran, Adam takes the forbidden fruit, unlike in Christianity and judaism, where Eve is the sinner, Women are not looked down upon in Islam, they have equal rights as men, but they have to be modest in dress, which seems to bother the westerners the most. I dont mean taliban mandated burqas, Islam only states that the women is to be covered past her elbows and past the ankles, which is no problem for me, because i wear jeans and long sleeved shirts, or dresses. as a muslim woman, i believe it is for my own protection, I have no desire to wear bikinis or mini skirts, because I think it is out of disrespect that a man, other then my husband, will stare at my almost naked body, and it can cause unwanted attention.

Until Muslims stop blaming the Jews and the West for their all of their problems, Islam will continue to decline--demographic boom notwithstanding. Islami, some of the posters here have gotten carried away, in my opinion. I'm not in any way a fan of Islam as the leaders of this religion around the world did not get up immediately to condemn the murders of 9/11/01. But I don't see any purpose of piling on someone who might be able to illuminate this subject of which I believe it is far to say most Americans know little of.

I do have a questions for you. What is the deal with this covering up of women? Why is sex such a big deal? I have heard numerous reports of rapes, etc., by Muslim men during conflict and wonder if it is because sex is so taboo that they have this pent-up need to partake of the forbidden fruit when they have the opportunity. To be sure, the exploitation of sex in western culture is ridiculous and the limits have been pushed to extremes but on the whole probably has been an improvement from the time that I was grew up in the '50s. So little was known about sex that it took on an unnatural obsession when puberty arrived. Comments?

Let's try point by point. Are you telling me that 1700 Muslims died in New York, Wash. DC and Pennsylvania? That would be about half of the total dead. Or would that be a typical Islamic lie or exaggeration.

In their writings, spoken words, the terrorists make frequent reference to Islam. At present, they and their acts are the most prominent and visible examples of Islam.
