ok except the Saudis are Sunnis. Little error in facts.

Doesn't matter. This is comedy. And it sounds funny. Nobody (except maybe you and five other people) are going to stop and think, "Hmmm, I thought the Saudis were Sunnis."

Besides, if you want to get snippy about it :-) , not all Saudis--citizens of that nation--are Sunnis--members of that faction of Islam. And not all Sunnis are Saudis. As far as I know, that is. But then, I might be full of shiite.

Now do one to 'A Mighty Fortress' and I'll really be impressed.

I'll give you a serious answer to what I'm guessing was just a lighthearted remark from someone who knows my occupation. :-) As a Lutheran minister, I am reluctant to use one of our greatest hymns for a parody on the likes of bin Laden, Condit, or the Clintons. Besides, it's hard enough to find Lutherans who can sing it right, let alone many others. Parody tunes need to have a higher degree of familiarity among the audience.

Hey, I can sing it very well...

And yes, I know your occupation, which is why I shot that one across your bow, LOL.

Not just "A Mighty Fortress" but just about any Christian hymn would be in mighty poor taste, if not bordering on blasphemy, to use for a parody. I agree with CH, keep it to secular songs.

Definitely worth a bookmark. Have you sent this one to Rush Limbaugh yet? I have a feeling he'd get it recorded and broadcast on his show.

Yes, I e-mailed it to Rush and to his parodist, Paul Shanklin, at the same time on Saturday I posted it here. Haven't heard anything back yet.

BTW, back last November, I e-mailed Rush and Paul another song I wrote, "The Palm Beach Pokey," also on the same day I wrote it. I didn't hear back from them, but I did find out later that Rush either referred to the song or read it on his show at some point.

Thank you. I've had that happen before, believe it or not, with "The Palm Beach Pokey." What I learned from that experience is that there are some unscrupulous people out there who will try to take credit for something somebody else wrote and will try to make money off it. So if this song is passed along on the Internet, I can only ask that people will respect my rights as the author. That's why I included my name and copyright line, which should be included any time the song is passed around.

Pick out a site for a bigger church.

Well, two points:

1) I am not pastoring a parish right now. I'm in graduate school, working on a doctorate in Biblical Studies. But my family still does like to eat. :-)

2) "The Palm Beach Pokey" went all over the Internet, radio shows all across the country, FReeper rallies, etc. Do you know how much money I made off that song? Not one cent. There was even a group (the Splatter Sisters) that recorded it with my permission, but they didn't know how to market this kind of a song on a national scale so quickly, and so they didn't sell enough copies even to cover their production costs. My 15 minutes of fame didn't even bring me 15 cents of fortune.

I'm not complaining (well, sorta, I guess I am). I write these things for fun, and I hope others enjoy them. I don't look to make money off them. But I sure as heck don't want anyone else (whether radio hosts or recording artists) to be making money off my stuff without me!

You are brilliant! I wish you could make money from your songs, too: they are hilarious. I've tried to write a few myself. I think it would be the most fun job in the entire world, and combined with your religious duties (by the posts, you are a pastor?), it really makes for a winning combination in life.
