No matter how much I learn about Muslim extremism, "bin Ladenism" or whatever names we have learned to attach to this movement, I keep coming back to the same conclusion, and it's a conclusion that is perhaps historically without precedent: that there is a very considerable mass of people occupying our planet who have simply reached the absolute dead-end of their historical moment. We'd better have a strong stomach because this is going to be a bloodbath of historical proportions, and now is there no turning back, and they want it that way. They seem to truly want and expect to be exterminated, and they believe that even if all of them are killed in the process of trying to defeat the West and re-establish their brand of Islam as a dominant force on the world stage, then new generations will follow them and successfully complete the struggle. Of course they are fatuously aligning themselves with the Palestinian struggle and the Palestinians are just desperate enough to cheer him on, without ever asking themselves what bin Laden would do for them if he ever "took over" the world. This is a dead end for Islamic fundamentalism, the stakes are as high as they've ever been raised, and, one way or another, they are about to exit the world stage.

I strongly support our troops and President.

I happen to also believe that no human coalition or amount of troops or firepower is going to do Islam in.

I believe God has HIS own plan and timing for that and it may well be a lot sooner than most think. I believe God is determined to have the glory; the "air time;" the impact of that "message." Certainly HE does all things well and His timing is perfect. From my ignorant standpoint, sooner is better.

Your are right....

Americans are going to have to make a decision.....our children alive and free or their children. This killing innocents PC crap is going to cost alot of American children their lives (as well as moms and dads). We have to go against the countries that support terrorism in such a violent and horrible way that they tremble at the thought of America.

These people cannot be made to hate us more.....but they can be made afraid.....VERY AFRAID.....

Well, they're certainly exemplifying tribalism at its most extreme: considering their own group to be true humanity and good, everything not them to be false humanity and wicked. The proof of the wickedness is our failure to accept their judgment about our wickedness, because if we were righteous we'd agree with them that we are wicked. This mentality is something that in the past existed almost everywhere in the world. I think it's the default condition of the human experience and, were it not for the grace of G-d, we'd never have seen anything like the Western tradition of law that, in its best moments, puts all men of all tribes into the same context.

Bin Laden represents a sect of Islam which cannot be allowed to survive, because if it survives it will eventually attain the technological ability to destroy all life on this planet. It already has the will to do so.

We should destroy the mullahs, the schools, the families, and every living trace of "Ladenism". We should not accept their "defectors" because they are liars and will simply wait to stab us in the back when they recover their offensive capability. This should be a war of utter and complete annihilation.

But it will not be. There will be no cleansing of militant Islam because we are bound to find some "good" Islamic militants who are willing to turn on Bin Laden. And so, when Osama is laid to rest and the Taliban is rendered harmless, we will turn over that corner of the world to "friendly" Islamic "ex"-militants. And we will ride off into the sunset convinced that Virtue has conquered, and firm in our belief in the essential goodness of mankind.

And then in a decade or so, we get to do the whole thing all over again.
