Fear of the Lord, is the beginning of knowledge (Proverbs)
I'd say he is off to a good start.

He's in his 50s. He's taken a long time to leave his childhood.

You're welcome.

Christ apparently didn't think that He would be better off without him (if the confession is genuine). God would rather save even a loon than lose him to hell forever.

Christianity is better off without him,
judge not...lest be judged yourself

I wasn't talking about that. I just mean as an example of christianity his past will never let him be a good example to non-believers. They'll just see his past and think he's a hypocrite (as if we need anymore of that)

"Christianity is better off without him, and you can't say that about too many people" While I never had any interest in that sort of music, I think it's important to note who it was that Jesus took his message to. He preached to the whores and tax collectors, not the elite society members. And he was condemned roundly for it too.
Paul said that God uses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. I don't think that principle has been revoked.

saw him in boston before we moved to Orlando. what a great show, but people were openly smoking pot there. it kind of grossed me out.

Thats not how I meant that. When we try to be good examples to others and spread the word... well he can't, they'll just snicker and talk about his past
I don't want anyone left out of heaven!

God has never been known to turn a deaf ear.
To: Don Joe
Like I said he's welcomed to join the club and be saved but I meant that he won't exactly be able to help us spread the message... they'd just whisper behind his back..

"I just mean as an example of christianity his past will never let him be a good example to non-believers." Unlike, for example, Paul, who actively persecuted Christians, and participated in the murder of Stephen?
It's precisely the people with sordid pasts who make the best demonstration of what a changed life really means.
