After hundreds of lawsuits, and the howling roar of silence from Reuters regarding them, Judicial Watch's latest ditty shockingly debuts at Numero Uno on the Reuters Top Stories Yahoo charts:
Group Sues Cheney, Halliburton over Accounting
Wed Jul 10,10:15 AM ET
MIAMI (Reuters) - A public interest legal group filed a shareholder lawsuit on Wednesday alleging Vice President Dick Cheney ( news - web sites) and the oil services company he ran for five years, Halliburton Co., as well as accounting firm Andersen, defrauded shareholders through accounting fraud.
The lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch alleges that while Cheney was Halliburton's chief executive officer, he and its other directors inflated revenue reports, which increased the stock's value.
"They overstated their revenues by tens of millions of dollars and that's an understatement," said Larry Klayman, chairman and general counsel at Judicial Watch. The civil suit was filed in Dallas federal court.
Klayman said the inflated revenues resulted from accounting changes that were never made public as required by law. The lawsuit did not specify the amount of compensation the plaintiff shareholders are seeking. But Klayman said: "We're seeking millions and millions of dollars. ... It's to punish the people involved."
Cheney worked as chief executive of Halliburton from 1995 to 2000.
Congrats Larry! Youve finally found the magic formula for glorious media stardom! Took you long enough!

GO Larry GO!!
To: dead
Ever here the old adage: "he bit off more than he could chew?"
To: dead
My thoughts exactly.
But as Larry has amply and repeatedly demonstrated, any fool can file a lawsuit. The real trick lies in winning one (Larry's not big in that department).

Is this the same problem with charging revenue from change orders before they are negotiated. If it is IMO its not a big deal. If HAL was honest then the next quarter statement would include the reduced negotiated amount. Even if the SEC decides its improper such a practice would only improve the balance sheet for one quarter.

A public interest legal group Man, this really is disgusting. After 8 years of being a conservative legal group, now suddenly they are a "public interest" group. Sick.

National Proletariat Radio had this story as its SECOND item (followed by another unbiased story that began with "The REPUBLICAN controlled House is looking into a bill to..."). Looks like judicial watch has made the big time.

Please tell me how one would go about filing a class action lawsuit against Larry Klayman.
To: Huck
It really is amazing. They used to be politically biased, now they work in the realm of public interest.
I can't wait to see Coulter's or Bozell's take on Larry's new found credibility.

I was standing in the kitchen this morning and I heard my local CBS station run through the Judicial Watch piece.
I remarked to my wife that I never once heard the words "Judicial Watch" on local TV news during all the years of the Clinton Criminality.

LOL! Thanks! I'm always looking for good nicks for our leftist press organs. ;-)

The posting guidelines here preclude me from saying what I'd like to do with Larry Klayman's dental work.

Well, look here! I am sure it is gratifying to Larry that Reuters and NPR are finally giving credence to the conservative viewpoint. (Snort!)
To: Dog Gone
I want to know if we can file a class action lawsuit against him. Sauce for the goose, etc.

I think he should change his name from Klayman to Klymer.
