Wanted these al Qaeda Tree Huggers for contributing to uncontrollable forest fires in Oregon!I stole that phrase al Qaeda Tree Huggers from our own Archie Bunker on Steroids. Who, when all of this is over, will probably hate these Oregon al Qaeda Tree Huggers even more than you and I do.
To: Paulus Invictus
Thanks for the kind words.
Maybe this should be the way we refer to these clymers associated with the Oregone fires:
Oregon's al Qaeda Tree Huggers
To: cake_crumb
Their agenda is now more dangerous to Oregonians living around their Druid Cathedrals than the al Qaeda thugs.
A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER: THE OREGON AL QAEDA TREE HUGGERS!
To: who knows what evil?
The failure of the state of Oregon/Kali NOAA fire map to appear in that reply of mine, is one of those great mysteries of Free Republic.
It seems like whenever John Rob is tweaking the server with new programming, it gets slow and parts of posts get lost or we have double posts.
So this is one time that we can't blame the whackos in our government. (I think!)
To: Grampa Dave
Tree Hugger's should be stapled to the trees and left there to become one with the tree...or ash in the case of fire... :o)

Gasquet fire still burning
By John Driscoll The Times-Standard
Saturday, August 03, 2002 -
GASQUET -- A fire in Del Norte County grew slightly overnight, creeping slowly toward homes in the Low Divide area north of this little town.
The fire is still more than a mile away from those homes, 30 of which have been evacuated since earlier this week.
"We're not seeing rapid growth, but the potential is there," said Terry Knupp, spokeswoman for the U.S. Forest Service.
Firefighters have carved a line around the fire, which has now burned about 21,500 acres on the Smith River National Recreation Area, but the Forest Service reports it is only 5 percent contained.
"It's tough and we're having a hard time getting people in there," Knupp said.
The difficult terrain took its toll Thursday evening when one firefighter slipped and fell 100 feet down a hill. Del Norte County Search and Rescue responded, but the tough country did not allow for his immediate rescue, so EMTs stayed with him in the woods overnight. In the morning when visibility improved, he was airlifted by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter to Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City. He is reported to be in good condition.
Firefighters now have a grasp on another fire farther up U.S. Highway 199 which still has the road into Oregon closed. The 850-acre Shelly Creek Fire is 95 percent contained. Rock and burning debris still litter the roadway.
The hundreds of firefighters fighting the Shelly Creek Fire will move to battle the Sour Biscuit fire as they are released from the smaller blaze.
The extreme fire danger has prompted Six Rivers National Forest to initiate fire restrictions effective Friday.
Campfires will only be allowed in designated safe zones. Smoking is limited to inside vehicles, buildings or designated recreation sites. Internal combustion engines are allowed only on forest roads. Welding and use of explosives is prohibited.
With a valid California campfire permit, the use of lanterns and portable stoves is allowed outside the safe zones.
Call local ranger districts to find out where campfire permits are or aren't needed.
The Stanza Fire outside of Happy Camp is fully contained after burning 2,880 acres. Crews are now mopping up and rehabilitating areas torn up by fire lines.
"Firefighters have carved a line around the fire, which has now burned about 21,500 acres on the Smith River National Recreation Area, but the Forest Service reports it is only 5 percent contained."
Anybody want to venture a guess re how much logging and preventative brush removal has happened in this area the past 10 years?

Probably another thank you to the al Qaeda Tree Huggers for enabling this fire to burn so badly and imperil this fire fighter is personally overdue.
To: blackie
How about wrapping steel cables with the hemp that they and Andy Kerr want to grow in our forests.
Then wrap the nice hemp with steel cables around the al Qaeda Tree Huggers to really enable them to hug a tree while one of their rural cleansing fires comes to cleanse them.

So this is one time that we can't blame the whackos in our government. (I think!) I don't think this is a 'John Rob' problem...the map clearly displays the state of Oregon, but whoever labelled the map (NOAA, I would think) has Oregon designated as 'Washington'. Washington is to the NORTH of the satellite image displayed.
To: Grampa Dave
Sounds good to me !!
Later...I'm gonna work on the deck for a while... :o)

I guess that donations to Club Sierra and the ONRC enviralist groups have been way down the past few weeks in Oregon.
Give until it hurts an al Qaeda Eco Nazi!

Active fire behavior, especially during period of increased wind conditions will cause increase burned acreage that may not reflect accurately " on the ground situation". Please note that the data and situation reports are based on formal incident summaries and situations reported locally may not yet be included or has not been validated for this summary. Evacuation questions should be directed to state or local Emergency Operation Centers (EOC) for verification. It is advised that media consult the data provided and then call the Information Desk for more specific, detailed information on the fire situation, It will be periodically updated by the Public Information staff at NWCC. Specific information may be gained through calling the NWCC Information Desk at (503) 808-2764. |

It wasn't before my time, Archie and this is many times worse than any wood stoves burning. Even with the many sawmills with no restrictions for air quality back in the 50's .... this is still many times worse.

I understand that this clown was recently in the Portland neighborhood grubbing for $'s for the al Qaeda Eco Nazis running for office as Rat Politicians:
You poor Oregonians, first a visit by the Clown who enabled the al Qaeda Eco Nazis to set up these rural cleansing fires. Then the rural cleansing fires erupt.

Thanks for the link, Grampa. I should have know you'd be on top of it. It's cooler this morning, but the smoke is very heavy. Kids around here seem to be all getting sick. I got a nice note from Rosemary Harrington thanking us all for getting this out.

The Illinois Valley Fire, aka the Florence Fire and the Biscuit Fire before this is over may have a combined total of over 300,000 square acres.
This was one of the most beautiful spots on this earth not just Oregon. Now the al Qaeda Tree Hugging Terrorists, club sierra and the ONRC have made it into an ash heap.
Thanksf for your update.
