The Unseen Tape By Jeremy Reynalds (bio) Other Articles by Jeremy Reynalds Back to News / Home Page All over the country, newsroom staff usually meet in the early morning and early afternoon to decide what we're going to see on our local evening news that night or read in our local newspaper the next morning. And in New York they do about the same thing to prepare for the national newscasts.
Imagine a meeting like this. Sitting around a long table, the talk centers around ways to make conservatives look stupid. After a long discussion about how social conservatives are trying to take over the nation with their "bigoted view of morality," the news director says (for example), "There's an anti-abortion rally at a downtown church (or even on the steps of the Capitol building) tonight. If there's any way possible, get a good soundbite from the pro-choice people but ignore the anti-abortionists. If you absolutely have to interview them, make sure we edit the bite to make their position look really stupid!"
Are there meetings like this that make an overt attempt to slant the news? Not in my experience, but to hear some conservatives talk it would be easy to sometimes assume that there is an organized conspiracy by members of the so-called mainstream media to ignore issues of significance and to slant news to fit the "agenda" of the news networks.
But that notwithstanding, I understand why some people think in a conspiratorial type fashion because sometimes the media appear to so clearly miss the mark by not reporting on issues which we would think of as being significant that it appears to have been done on purpose. For example. Did you know about bin Laden and the so-called "Unseen Tape?"I didn't until I heard about it on Jihad Unspun.
There's a report on that web site at http://www.jihadunspun.com/BinLadensNetwork/news/newsindex.php which details the existence of this "Unseen Tape."
The report reads: "Footage obtained by Jihad Unspun in June of this year clearly shows that bin Laden survived the December attacks on Toro Bora. Titled "The Unseen Tape, this footage contains an interview conducted by a reporter for Al Jazeera, the Qatar-based Arabic TV Channel which they chose not to air, a segment in tribute to the Mujahideen martyrs killed at Shar-e Kot, and four minutes of completely new footage of bin Laden and his close associated Al-Zawahari inside Afghanistan in what appears to be early spring. Interestingly enough, this tape was sold to the Sunday Times and then subsequently denounced throughout main stream media but never appeared on air anywhere where it could be open to public scrutiny."
Indeed, why was the tape apparently never aired? I have no idea. I am not for one minute suggesting that there is any sort of "media conspiracy" going on, but don't we as the viewing public at least have the right to make up our minds about what we want to see?
You now have the opportunity to see that tape. The people at jihadunspun.com are making it available. Yes there's a fee involved but jihadunspun's explanation for charging makes absolute sense to me. They write at www.jusplus.com/about.cfm
"Uncut news and footage is hard to come by in these days of censorship. At JUSPLUS, we are committed to bringing you uncut content so you can make your own conclusions on the US war on "terrorism" that has now become a worldwide conflict. Footage, photographs and uncensored news reports from remote areas like Afghanistan, Pakistan, South Asia and Middle Eastern countries is extremely difficult and expensive to obtain. Reporters in these areas take great risks and there are many challenges getting the information they obtain to sources that will publish it. Sometimes footage has to be brought out by human courier which is very dangerous and that can cause lengthy delays. When it is available, sometimes it can't be obtained strictly because of the price and therefore is sold to major news agencies that in turn rarely air it or at best air clips out of context."
Please note that neither this writer or www.bushcountry.org are vouching for the validity of the tape or the motivation of www.jihadunspun.com in offering you the opportunity to see the material, but we thought that at least you may want to know about the existence of the tape and have the opportunity to view it and make up your own mind if you so wish. You can do that by going to www.jusplus.com
Oh, and you may want to call the "big boys" at ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and CNN and ask them why you haven't seen or heard about this tape on THEIR newscasts. I can't help but wonder if this guy actually paid his $24.95 (up from $19.95) and viewed the actual video. A review of the video would be a perfect news story, and as a reporter for a news organization surely he has $24.95 in his expense account?
I think he was still too skittish about supporting bin Laden's followers to pony up the $24.95, but he's encouraging us to?
I know I'm curious, and I'd like to see the video, but I simply can't give those slimeballs $24.95.

The reason that this video was not widely aired was that it offered nothing new. It is simply a montage of video clips interspersed with clips of Bin Laden's Anti-American ravings. Bin Laden is dead.

Greetings fellow Pythonette.
I haven't watched Polly run down the curtain and join the bloody choir invisible for quite awhile.
I miss A&E showing F.Towers, and the F.Circus.
We have quite a few on tape though. Thank God!
