Aren't there 16 U.N. Resolutions? If so, they've still got 15 to comply to. Yes... this is the crux - for if they don't make Iraq comply with the previous 16, why would Iraq comply wih the 17th???

More than likely Gephardt and Daschle were on the phone non-stop with Sadaam, begging him to let the inspectors back in. There's no way that they want to deal with this before the elections.

he did....
but the phony offer to allow inspections will not fulfill any of the other requirements the President laid out.
Sadaam WAS toast, now he is post toasties...

He accepted? Must have hidden his stockpile then... No, he's just waiting to refuse their entry once they reach the buildings they wish to inspect. Deja vu.
He really believes the UN and the US are already irrelevant so he just playing his games. What a shame Pres. Bush has showed the UN exactly how irrelevant they will become if they continue to allow such blatant disregard for their resolutions. IMHO if the UN is deemed irrelevant in the eyes of the world their whole mission will be a "fait complete."

Here's
the Reuters story Drudge is pointing to:
UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri gave the United Nations a letter from his government on Monday and said it contained good news. "We reached satisfactory results and there is good news," Sabri told reporters after handing the letter to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
Arab and European officials said earlier they were awaiting Iraq's response to U.N. demands that it let arms inspectors return to the country, amid signs of Iraqi flexibility.
"The secretary-general ... will announce the good news to you," Sabri added.

The inspectors this time come with the 82nd Airborne.

Annan is the worst possible Secretary General that they have ever had. He sure missed the boat on what President Bush said at the United Nations.
He essentially declared this over and I cannot wait until he gets a call from someone in the Administration!
To: Robert_Paulson2
You're probably right that Bush was ready for this shell game.
All the more reason to have inspectors on the ground tomorrow. They can scout locations for our bombers.

It will take at least two months to get inspectors into Iraq ... and if there aren't 50,000 troops accompanying them, we're right back to the situation that faced Richard Butler when he was unable to get closure because of sinkEmperor's bumblings. I trust that our forces will continue the buildup to massive intervention because all the evil dictator is trying to do is buy the necessary time to finish his nuke construction and send out his bio and chemical weapons via his terorist connections. Calling lil' tommy, hatellary, and the dimocrat party leadership ... your awol posturing regarding the war effort against terrorism is gonna cost thousands of American lives; may you rot in Hell with the Saddam Insane one.

Let's hope the inspectors have their bags packed. If they are turned away from a single site... YOu must not have heard saddam's mistress. They'll never be turned away from a single site. They ask the inspectors "Where would u like to search tomorrow?" Then they spend all night clearing everything out so nothing is ever found. They did this to Scott Ritter, Dunce for years.

"I hope Bush saw this coming and has inspectors in the air tonight."Your right but, of course, American inspectors won't be allowed.
To: Rockitz
Of COURSE sadaam will let inspectors in... he needs human shields for his palaces.... and the coming war against the USA... I know it, YOU know it... BUSH knows it.
I bet we still demand regime change.
To: marajade
"The media is declaring peace in our time..." What do you want to bet that Bush won't get the credit though...
I believe Dog was quoting Neville Chamberlain after Munich, with sarcasm.

I'm not afraid. Obviously this was one possible result of GWB's speech. Given the way they have played this game so far, I would suspect that they have this scenario already played out. I wonder what our next move is. I highly doubt that Saddam will actually allow the inspectors to do their work. We'll see what happens when they get kicked out again.
To: Argus
Well I would never compare Bush with Chamberlain in the same breath, let alone same sentence...
