Final counts showed Reno gained 3,402 votes in Miami-Dade, Broward and other counties, not enough to erase the 8,196-vote margin McBride held after the Sept. 10 primary. Unofficially, McBride won by 4,794 votes out of more than 1.3 million votes cast.
McBride had claimed victory Thursday, two days after one of the closest elections in Florida history. He faces Republican Gov. Jeb Bush in the Nov. 5 general election.
McBride, a Tampa lawyer and first-time candidate, emerged from the primary as the top vote-getter, but the race was marred by ballot glitches that brought back memories of the 2000 presidential election.
McBride spent a quiet day Tuesday, going for a morning jog and running errands. He declined to comment to an Associated Press reporter at his home in Thonotosassa, about 15 miles northeast of Tampa. His campaign was planning a statewide tour Wednesday and Thursday, including stops in Miami, Orlando and Tallahassee.
McBride's wife Alex Sink was at the Cactus Club restaurant in downtown Tampa when Reno's speech came on television. Everyone at the bar clapped when the program ended.
``What a gracious person,'' Sink said as she watched Reno. ``She's a wonderful person and a great public servant.''
Unofficial totals showed that McBride had 602,346 votes, or 44.38 percent; Reno had 597,552, or 44.03 percent; and state Sen. Daryl Jones of Miami had 157,104, or 11.57 percent.
Unlike in 2000, when President Bush narrowly defeated Al Gore, a recount will not occur this time as McBride's lead in last week's preliminary total was larger than the half-a-percentage point margin necessary to trigger an automatic statewide recount.
HOW ABOUT THE RECOUNT? THE WAY I COUNT IT ~602,000 + ~598,000 = ~1,200,000 VOTES CAST (PLUS OVER 100,000 FOR THE 3RD CANDIDATE. SO IF YOU SAY 1,200,000 X 0.5% = 6,000. 6,000 - 4,794 =1206 IT WOULD APPEAR THAT MCBRIDE IS 1206 SHORT AND THEREFORE TRIGGERS AN AUTOMATIC STATEWIDE RECOUNT. CAN RENO'S CONCESSION STOP THE AUTOMATIC RECOUNT OR MUST IT PROCEDE?
I PREDICTED THE RECOUNT LAST WEEK HERE AND ALMOST HIT THESE NUMBERS.
Reno's lawyers have said they will not sue to force a recount or otherwise challenge the results. Bush congratulated McBride in a statement and said he hoped ``there will be a real focus on issues for the next seven weeks.''

These characters only win by stealing the general election. This election needs to be monitored by an outside independent organization in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach.

Tallahassee - Democrats' relentless commitment to ensuring real election reform for Florida before the next statewide election will pay off today when, after months of a Republican Governor and Legislature dragging their feet on election reform, SB1118 is signed into law. "Democrats took a seat at the head of the table this year and were instrumental in ensuring election reform for the state of Florida," said Senate Democratic Leader Tom Rossin (D-Palm Beach). "Floridians have rightly demanded that what happened in last November's election never happen again. Thanks to the leadership and hands on involvement of Democrats, like Sen. Daryl Jones, real election reform will become the law of the land in Florida." Largely due to the persistence of Democrats, the Legislature adopted most of the recommendations of a bipartisan election reform task force that will ensure every vote is counted in the next statewide election. Some of the key provisions Democrats fought for and ensured were contained in the comprehensive election reform package include: eliminating punch cards, provisional ballots, automatic machine and hand-recounts, extending certification deadlines, a Voter's Bill of Rights and Responsibilities, updating absentee ballot procedures, comprehensive poll worker training and recruitment, substantial funding for much-needed voter education and a "real time" voter registration database and website. By running ads against McBride, Bush gave him the boost he needed to win the primary. Normally, there'd be a run-off but this year (and only this year) the legislature, run by Bush (the Republican Party in Florida is run out of his office) ruled out a run-off. Bush figured he'd give Reno a leg up by keeping her out of a run-off she might lose. Instead, McBride won the primary and doesn't have to continue running for another two weeks against a Democrat for the nomination. Finally, Bush has been working to attract voters in Southeast Florida while taking North Florida and the Panhandle for granted. Against Reno that's a winning formula. Against McBride, however, it could prove disasterous. Bush's efforts in Southeastern Florida are, IMHO, illusory and carry a cost in North Florida and the Panhandle.
That sounds like some parroted rat BS that they are spinning to hide the fact that they stole the election from Reno in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach.
Broward didnt report a single precinct until 1:30 A.M., it was the only one of 67 counties that had not put up at least partial results.
McBribe shouldn't be too confident of getting the black vote.
