But won't the start of the operation against Iraq validate Steyn's judgment that such action is necessary? Which would mean that his last 2 pieces haven't been such "clunkers" after all. Funny to see some on this thread allude to Steyn's alleged "impatience for war", as though he's merely lusting for blood.

I was a little bit disappointed with his last one (the one before this one), but I tend to keep an open perspective. (Steyn had said that the Iraq Operation would begin by 9-11, and so he was disappointed that Bush didn't make his prediction). I think we all know there will be an operation in Iraq, it's just a matter of when.

Steyn has been putting out a lot of great articles the last year or so. I expect he'll keep it up.....

I can't help remembering the 2000 campaign where someone as lame as Gore closed rapidly on Bush by saying the health of the economy will be on the ballot. Bush had no response, even though there were some clear signs starting to emerge that the economy wasn't looking so hot.

I recall Bush did say that the economy was turning down long before election 2000, as did Cheney I believe. The media just didn't blow the horn loud, since he wasn't their Darling DIMocRAT.

How accurate were your predictions for the 1998 midterm elections, Vast Right Wing? We ought to have a contest on the board. Let people post their predictions for 25 races and see who was the most accurate. I don't know if I would win the contest or not. I am so optimistic today that I would give TN to Lamar! and NC to EDole, something I was unsure of in April. But I still can't call TX for Cornyn, not by a long shot, and I think Wayne Allard is in trouble in fickle CO. Not Governor Owens, he is safe, but it is Senator Allard who is in trouble. There could also be Democrat gubernatorial wins that many conservatives do not expect, even in places like WY and (hopefully not) AZ. None of these elections, however, will have the slightest effect on 2004, in my opinion.

I don't recall Bush saying that. If he did, he didn't say it much. I think Paul Gigot said after the election that Gore caught up because they failed to respond to Gore's attacks on the economy.

Actually, the only remaining question is how much longer the Democrats’ most visible spokesman can afford to go on making himself look like a total idiot.

Not only is DascHOLE showing himself to be an idiot, but he's exposing himself as the sniveling little coward he is.

'What's the capital of Iraq?'? Daschle fancies himself presidential material. If so, he's supposed to have answers, not just endless unspecified questions.

LOL!!! Love it!

Thanks for the ping, Meek.
