Before this act, state and federal governments penalized hospitals who accepted federal funds if they did not allow abortions.

To prohibit certain abortion-related discrimination in governmental activities.

Abortion Non-Discrimination Act of 2002 - Amends the Public Health Service Act to prohibit the Federal Government, and any State or local government that receives Federal financial assistance, from discriminating against any health care entity because (in addition to current prohibited reasons) the entity refuses to provide coverage of, or pay for, induced abortions. Expands the definition of "health care entity" to include (in addition to physicians) other health professionals, a hospital, a provider sponsored organization, a health maintenance organization, a health insurance plan, and any other kind of health care facility, organization, or plan.

The ANDA bill, says PP, "would allow the 'conscience' of the entity to trump the 'conscience' and needs of the women they serve. . . . This is wrong."

I'm not sure there are words to describe the mental imbalance these PP folks suffer from. Don't you just love this mentality of "women have a right to an abortion, have a right for someone else to pay for it and have a right to force someone to perform it"?

Guess, this shows the falsehood of being "pro-choice"!

They are "pro-abortion"...and don't believe that any other "choice" should ever be considered! They are making too much money on it...It is disgusting......

respect for your right of conscience may be seen as showing favoritism to religion

They will have to disband all churches, according to this reasoning.

Believing in right and wrong is now a violation of separation of church and state. And keeping your nose out of others' business is seen as helping their particular causes. In the view of these corrupt judges.

I want to point out that openly homosexual, pro-abortion RINO Jim Kolbe - Arizona - voted AGAINST almost all Republicans and voted AGAINST this bill.

We tried to unseat him in the Primary Election, but I guess the Republicans in my district are just too freakin' stupid to realize that Kolbe is not a Republican and is not worthy of their votes. Jim Behnke, his only challenger, received about 28% of the vote. That's only 3% more than the psycho perennial candidate Sweeney got 2 years ago in the primary right after Kolbe "came out" of the closet.

There are congressmen, Catholic or otherwise, who voted against Catholic Hospitals and pro-life Health Care Workers, let the people in your district know with a letter to the editor and through e-mail,  especially if you have a Catholic Hospital in your town or congressional district.  All the other life-issue votes since 1997 are on the link too.

Congressional Elections will be in November, check here for their Pro-Life votes

Abortion Non-Discrimination Act, this act prevented Catholic Hospitals and pro-life health-care workers from being penalized for not performing abortions and other procedures contrary to their religious and moral faith. A "yes" vote for this act protected the pro-life workers, a "no" vote penalized Health-Care workers., this act was voted on in 2002.
