I alluded to this book in the following essay on my blog and no one seemed to snap. bleh... I feel so damn old now.

Thanks for posting this. After Isaac Asimov, Henlein was my favorite Sci Fi writer. He was not afraid to paint with a large brush, but for adventure, he was the man. After his writing, what I remember most is his apparent agnosticism/atheism and it always made me feel sad for him. He was responsible for countless, pleasant hours spent following his characters through alien galaxies on great adventures -- all the while having my imagination stretched and expanded. He will definitely be missed.

Shades of the distant past.

I was reading this old Heinlin thread and noticed your phrase "a clank to it."

Yeah...that's what's been missing. SF needs to get its clank back.

Thanks for the heads up. Pretty old thread, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy reading it.

Still, I think The Moon is a Harsh Mistress to be the pinnacle of Heinlein's talents and one of the best science fiction books of all time.

For the social, and political insights alone, it should be required reading by anyone who considers themselves educated...

Wow, I just noticed how old the posts are to which I'm responding, LOL! Who resurrected this dusty old thread? ;-)

LOL. I was just pointed to this thread today. Don't know if you're still a freeper, but Cheers!
