The Rove/Bush RNC team is not touching this with a ten foot pole!
Ari already gave the Administrations 'final position' yesterday on the matter-smart move.

To quote Neal Boortz in today's nuze,
"Trent Lott doesnt need to resign because of his bordering-on-idiotic remarks at Strom Thurmonds 100th birthday party. He needs to be kicked out. The Senate Republicans need to step in and make it crystal clear that Trent Lott is no longer needed in a leadership role in the United States Senate.
Its happened twice now, not just once. The first time was about 20 years ago, then again last week. Trent Lott telling an audience that if Strom Thurmond had been elected in 1948 we wouldnt have had all these problems weve been having.
Look
Thurmonds candidacy in 1948 was about one thing. One thing only. It was all about opposition to Trumans civil rights agenda. It was a segregation forever campaign. The only issue. So, when someone says that a Thurmond victory would have prevented problems, the only rational inference that can be drawn is that the problems being spoken of are the problems associated with integration
problems associated with the actual realization of the implementation of our Constitutional guarantee of equal protection under the law.
Lotts apology was so weak. Both of them were weak. Somehow he just couldnt bring himself to say that the platform of the Dixiecrat Party in 1948 was anti-American and an abomination to our Constitution. He just couldnt bring himself to say that each and every citizen in our country is entitled to equal protection under our laws, and that the legacy of segregation is a point of shame, not a point of celebration.
There are many fine Republicans in the U.S. Senate who could serve as the Senate Majority Leader without the racial baggage. The bulk of the Republican agenda carries favorable implications for black Americans .. but how in the hell does the party expect to attract black members and voters with Trent Lott drawling on and on about what a good president Strom Thurmond would have made?"

Seems like all the liberals can do is lie in wait for a conservative to make a mistake so they can pretend like they are oh so offended and can take off on a "Magical Mystery Victim Tour" to display their "wounds" for all to admire and sympathize with.

why is everybody so dern sure that Lott was referring only to race when he said that things would be better had Thurmond won?

In this situation the less said the better. Anything Bush
or any other Republican says won't satisfy the blood lust
of the Deomcrats. Lott got himself into this mess, let him
get himself out of it.

Gosh, how original. The left is playing the race card again.
Nice to know that the DNC hasn't picked up a clue from the elections. Sling mud, sling mud, sling mud, and hope something gets traction.
The real thing to remember about all this crapola is that nobody from Jessie Jackson to AlGore to Terry Mac is remotely outraged about this. The funny thing is that most conservatives would like to see Lott gone a lot more than anybody on the left does. The sad thing is that the left seems perfectly happy starting a race war if they think it will get them power.

Sure, Bush should say he will.....when McAwful denounces Je$$e for "Hymietown", Byrd (D-KKK) for "white n!gger", etc.

"Congressional Black Caucus Chair Representative Elijah Cummings" is an Unabashed RACIST and should be ignored as irrelevant...MUD

Sadly, it would rather appear that these comments reflect Senator Lott's true prejudices on race.'
'The time has come for leaders of the Republican Party to speak out against Senator Lott's remarks. Sure thing jackoff, just as soon as you and X42 Publicly apologize for, and repudiate "Everytime you vote Republican, another Black Church Burns" .....

White Aryan Resistance's position on abortion, in part:
"Among non-Whites, invest in ghetto abortion clinics. Help to raise money for free abortions. Abortion clinic syndicates throughout North America, that primarily operate in non-White areas and receive tax support, should be promoted."
And the
DNC 2000 Platform, in part:
"The Democratic Party stands behind the right of every woman to choose, consistent with Roe v. Wade, and regardless of ability to pay."
They're saying the same thing. "Equal access to reproductive health services for minorities" and all that rot. Lott's a buffoon, but Terry has black blood money in his wallet.

Do you recall that incredible moment in history after Der Schlickmeister had been impeached by the House of Representatives, and everyone of these linguini-spined little Dem weasels trotted out on the steps to pledge their support for a guy who was a traitor to our country, committed perjury before a Federal judge, had raped several women, and had stained the reputation of the Presidency for evermore.
Bill Clinton could have raped and killed a black lesbian amputee war veteran on live TV and they would have rushed to kiss his ass.
Yes, Lott never should have been given the post and he should resign, but man, oh man, we love to eat our own!

Tell the DNC, Bush will appologize for Lott statements when the DNC appologizes for all the law breaking by Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Bush will have a private meeting with Lott, and ask him to step aside as Majority Leader. He's become a very negative distraction.
Lott has injured the Republican Party, and the image of the the President.
