You are seriously underestimating the Raiders. There is a reason the spread is already 8 points.

B.S. Either the Titans or Raiders could win this. No one has a lock on it. The spreads are pointless. What was the spread on Miami vs. Ohio in the Fiesta bowl? 13 points favoring Miami? Who won that?

Excellent point.

Just so that you know, the 49ers aren't the only team in the NFL with five Super Bowl rings.

I know. I was betting that Timesink wasn't from Dallas-Ft Worth. But I think my point is valid. What with all of the Niners bashing on this thread, and the Niners only have five Super Bowl victories (and a 100% winning percentage). Some of these FReepers were buggin me. :O)

Dude, just so that you know, you are, like, really cool. A Niners fan through and through who knows how to argue, now that's what I'm talking about. Can we get a standing ovation gif here?

The Raiders are going to turn the Eagles into the Beagles.

How many times has Rich Gannon seen a double cornerback blitz?

In fairness to both of us, I would respectfully submit that this wager be placed at the end of the preseason, when both of us have been able to weigh our respective teams' offseason successes/losses (i.e., knowing which coach we have might be helpful). Fair?

Whoa! Sounds like you're not quite sure of your teams chances next year relative to the GIANTS. Money is the great equalizer of BS, eh? But, in fairness to you, if you are a student (and I think something you said in an earlier post leads me to believe you are on the younger side of the spectrum) I would be happy to make it more of a gentleman's bet for five bucks (see how classy us GIANTS fans are?).

Don't the better teams usually win?

Usually, but not always.

How do you define "better"?

Five bucks? Alright, you got yourself a deal. Let me reiterate the way I understand this is gonna work:

The Giants/49ers will be compared, with the "better" team being:
1.) The team with the best record, should neither team make the playoffs.
2.) The team that made the playoffs, if only one team made the playoffs.
3.) The team that advanced to the furthest round of the playoffs, if both teams made it to the playoffs.
4.) The margin of defeat (in points) in their loss, should both teams lose in the same round of the playoffs.

I believe that covers everything. Okay, so we got a deal now?

P.S. Check out my profile to answer your questions.

Not really. I wasn't saying the spread was a predictor. I was saying there is a reason the spread was set to open at 8 points. I couldn't begin to give you an exhaustive list of why the Raiders are the dominant team in the NFL this year, but they are, and it *might* finally be acknowledged when they win the Super Bowl. We'll see.

Regarding the Titans game, the Titans have a terrible pass defense. The Raiders have a huge passing game.

The Titans offense depends on a running game, while the Raiders have played every high-powered rusher in the league this year, and stopped them cold.

The Titans have a good pass rush, but the Raiders have played other teams that did too, and stifled them. The Raider offensive line is the best in the NFL, and physically dominate the Titans.

Tennessee has won thier last 10 of 11, but against who? Jacksonville twice, Houston twice, Cincinnati. Not exactly the cream of the crop.

The Raiders have played the toughest teams in the NFL this year. The entire AFC West twice, the entire AFC East.

The Raiders played the second toughest schedule in the NFL (according to the NFL's official Strength of Schedule list). The Titans were 29th on that list.

The hottest team in the NFL is the Raiders, and this coming game is not even a fair matchup for the Titans. No disrespect intended, but they will fall easier than the Jets did.

The ex ref or the younger ref?

The ex-ref now drives a school bus after he retired. His 2 sons are now referees in the NFL. I don't know how many brothers he had, but one just died right before Christmas of cancer. He was eighty and was not ever a principal.

The Eagles don't dare try that against the Raiders. Gannon will dump off a little ten yard sideline pass to Rice who will run about sixty more with no cornerbacks in front of him. Montana and Rice used to do that too, back in days of yore - a one step drop and a quick throw.

The Raiders are a whole different class of offense than the Eagles and Bucs are used to defending.

Replace Gannon with Warner and Rice with Isaac Bruce, and you'll be saying just what the Rams fans said last year. That was before these Eagles came within 50 yards of beating them in their own building...

*grin*
