Some Maine Teachers Traumatizing Students of Deployed Soldiers
WABI- TV Bangor Maine | February 21, 2003 | 6 PM News

Posted on 02/23/2003 9:02:29 AM PST by bogeybob

WABI TV reported Friday that the Maine National Guard Family Assistance Center has received about 30 complaints from children of deployed soldiers concerning Principals, Teachers and Guidance Counselors reportedly demeaning the role of their deployed parent. Some children involved are 7 to 9 years of age.

Here is a letter written to a friend of mine from the Maine Army National Guard:

"Thank you for your interest on this most troubling matter. Our Family Assistance Centers have reported cases from Aroostook County to Southern Maine. We are reluctant to give out specific schools and the individuals involved in the interest of giving the education community a chance to address the problem itself. Also, parents wanted the opportunity to pursue the issue through their local school boards first.

In all, we have over thirty complaints that name schools and individual principals, teachers and guidance counselors. If one considers that these complaints come from just the parents who attended our briefings and only from children who told their parents, we are concerned that the problem may be more widespread than we know.

We are recording the complaints, and I will personally visit these educators to express our concern as a professional organization and ask for their cooperation.

Ultimately, our main concern and first responsibility is the safety of our children during these uncertain times. Maine has a core of dedicated and professional educators, but we will challenge any individual who places our children at risk due to their own political ideologies."

Let the pastor know how you feel. Start a collection plate boycott unless he/she publically apologizes. It's the only thing they understand.
The Catholic church didn't budge on the gay priests until they started losing their precious money. Then they freaked.

Any suggestions on how to deal with this?

Yes, find a church where the pastor preaches Christ, not political correct bull dung!

Sadly, youth pastors are often off the reservation. The senior pastor needs to know about this so he can deal with his employee correctly. Ask for permission from the senior pastor to go directly to the youth pastor as well to voice your upset, as a brother in Christ.

Then do not let a root of bitterness rise up in you. Forgive the offense of this younger brother and do not be a stumbling block for him. In fact, the best offer you can make is to be his prayer partner - meet with him weekly over coffee and offer to be his Paul/mentor. This will allow you to (over time) help him discern between truth and error, good and evil as you search the scriptures together.

If none of this works or you meet arrogance/resistence...send a letter to the elders indicating your resignation and why. Then go in peace.

This kind of ANTI AMERICAN propoganda is not just in Maine...right here in South Carolina my son came home from 4th grade and told me that the counselor said that it was 'evil' for us to go to war with Iraq. I went 'controlled' balistic - I'm on the mobilization list for Army retirees and my wife is a GULF WAR I veteran...

I can totally agree with your sentiments. I shall be bringing a copy of this thread to my next American Legion meeting on Wed.

Thanks.

It is up to us older vets to protect the children/spouses of our current people in the military.

This is extortion/harrassment that is aimed at the children to make reservists and national guard members question their loyalty.

I'm livid and outraged!

We are extremely conservative, patriotic and we don't have teacher's unions.

I don't think for one minute that any of the schools where I am stationed (VA) would even attempt something of this nature nor would I believe it would happen where I grew up(WV) but the state in question is in New England. 'Nuff said.

(Forgive me, NE FReepers, but you do have alot of marxist twits operating up there)

I have E-mailed Both ME Senators and even Tom Allen in the House of Reps, and Beth Edmunds dist. 23 (I don't have Woodbury's E-mail yet). Not that these Dems will do anything about it, but it might cause them to squirm a little.

As to litigation; We know of a certain School Administrator who has been sued for among other things sexual harassment.
So far we are told it has cost TAXPAYERS over $60,000 to cover his legal fees, settlements etc... and he recently got a raise to over $100 Large per annum.
So don't look for leverage that way; win or lose, NEA/State School cabals win, Taxpayers pay the consequences either way.

Also notified - Rush@EIB.com. and the American Legion National HQ.

Here is part of my letter:

There was a time when knowledge of such a treacherous atrocity could be generally kept from the majority of Citizens by a partisan Press and broadcast media; this is no longer the case, with the resurgence of alternative information resources and the Internet.

Word is getting out to the Patriotic, Freedom Loving People of Maine... and I sense no less than outrage.

It looks like the ME NEA may have really "stepped in it" this time with their political agenda-driven tactics. There are some very indignant, if not utterly enraged Mainers weighing in here apparently about ready to take matters to the streets, if not directly to the School Boards and Schools themselves.

Some speculation arises that when the situation in the Middle East is at length resolved, that some Battle-weary Veterans of bloody, mortal combat who also happen to be Parents of Maine School Children, will be coming home to Maine looking for a personal Parent - Teacher conference before they get their combat boots unlaced. That might just result in some of the most educational experiences that ME NEA Members have had in quite some time!

And I would not be surprised if those same Veteran Parents leave said Public School with their Children in tow, to take up "Home Schooling" or some other educational alternative.
As a matter of fact, I rather hope that a lot of them do!

Still skeptical?

Just scan the postings on that breaking Forum thread I linked you to (this one)... and FEEL THE LOVE!!! Way to go, NEA! You've really stepped in it this time!

Keep it up though, Komrades; we just might get the EDUCATIONAL CHOICE America so desperately needs after all!

("Support Our Troops" graphic) ...Who by their courage and sacrifice EARN us the FREEDOM we all too often take for granted, or abuse. ...Otherwise please find yourself some other Country to live in.

There are several out there which already embrace the Socialism / Communism some who find such fault with our Country and it's President seem so fond of; There's no need to manipulate the United States of America into being another one.

So just feel free to pack up your Liberal agenda, "Thoughts of Mao", and Politically Correct ideas and repair to one of them. Perhaps you will feel more at "Home" there.

And kindly have the decency to leave those of us who still manage to somehow LOVE this Country and take pride in those who defend it, and THEIR CHILDREN, alone!

Thank You ever so much.

For God and Country:

"Uncle Jaque"

As usual, it's for the children. Terroize them, demean their patriotic parents. A bunch of unrepentant hippies who think they'll get away with it.

Damned Democrats.

I thought that they were going to talk about it at 0630 and I listened until 0700. I had to get to the gym and missed the 0730 segment.

I have alerted the vets in the L-A area. They are steamed.

Let's hope some of the big guns pick this up. Don't count on anything from Duke Albanese or John Baldacci.

Yep, names and pictures should be posted on the internet. Think I'll forward this story to O'Reilly.

I sure hope he picks it up because someone needs to put pressure on someone to dig deeper into this issue to get all the facts out in the open. As long as things are hidden, this horrible use and abuse of a child's emotionally well being will continue.

Next time you indoctrinate my kids, or any other veterans kids, who are out fighting a war to preserve your freedom in anti-American BS, I and 26 million othr veterans kick your A$$.

I was thinking something more along the lines of large crowds (read: mob), torches, and ball bats instead of just a garden variety ass kicking.

I prefer the Pattonesque phrasing "..from time to time the tree of freedom must be watered with the blood of tyrants".

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

Thomas Jefferson
Letter to William S. Smith, Paris, Nov. 13, 1787
Jefferson was applying this to our own revolution and, in general, to domestic insurrections as well. At that time, no one in America was talking about deposing foreign despots.

Great quote anyway.

Too bad the children in this story are so young. Their little minds are so easy for the NEA to destroy.
I don't know which is worse for Americas future. Left wingers, or Al Quata. One just works faster than the other.

"Jefferson was applying this to our own revolution and, in general, to domestic insurrections as well."

Well, actually, I had in mind the continuing attempted socialist "domestic insurrection" being promulgated by our internal "tyrants" (in this case the NEA).

I think Jefferson would have had no problem whatsoever with removing Saddam Hussein (see his actions wrt the "Barbary Pirates"--Saddam and Bin Ladin are just the philisophical descendants of same).

I am beginning to realize the magnitude of the problem we have here with "citizens" who HATE the U.S. They consider that the nation is "lost" since Clinton left and Bush was elected.

When Clinton was in office, we conservatives feared for the Republic, but we never turned against it.

These people hate Bush, and they hate America for allowing him in office.

I do not know what, short of civil war, is going to correct this state of affairs. And believe me, I do NOT want to see civil war.

...as any other person is provided with due process, we should allow these teachers to get it as well. Isnt that what we stand up for?

No teachers were named. No school board was named. I can appreciate the sentiments you express but they don't apply in this instance.
