While it's difficult to classify any group as "pro-war," organizations supporting President Bush's tough stand on Iraq are out in force on the Internet, using message boards, Web logs, online petitions and e-mail to rally support for using force to disarm Iraq and remove Saddam Hussein from power.
< snip >
The conservative online site Free Republic (www.freerepublic.com) promotes rallies and news in support of U.S. policies on Iraq. Kristinn Taylor, co-leader of the D.C. Chapter notes in an e-mail that the group has been using "the Internet for almost five years to organize conservative political activities." The site's home page states: "As war with Iraq becomes imminent, more and more of the 'useful idiot' leftist weasels are crawling out of the woodwork. So-called 'anti-war' protests are popping up in cities all across the nation. ... Form a group, grab your signs, unfurl the flag and prepare to support your country!"
Free Republic also runs a message group on Iraq through Yahoo. The Free Republic site itself also serves as a virtual bulletin board for upcoming events supportive of current U.S. policies on Iraq, posting information on Rally For America gatherings. One event planned for March 23 in Ventura, Calif., is billed as "a pro-troops, pro-President, pro-USA, show your spirit, kind of rally." The separate Liberate Iraq group on Yahoo lists antiwar events in Minnesota.

More decent press (and from the Washington Post no less) for FReeper efforts in the Rally for America.

The whole article was good. It gave more webites for adopting sailors about ship and sending packages etc.
I know we can do this through our own USO CANTEEN thread, but for others out there aren't aware (DUH) of FreeRepublic, it is an excellent source of information for supporting our troops.

Jim, thought you'd like to see this article in the Washington Post online version. Great publicity for Free Republic, Rally for America/Support Our Troops events across the country and FReepers in general.

On another note, hard to believe the same organization that was suing us is now referring to us in their articles. Shouldn't we require some kind of a kickback from them for that privilege? :)

I emailed the author to point out that the Rally for America is being organized by the Free Republic Network, a point which was overlooked in her article.
