Dumb, dumb reporters question -- she just can't believe that President didn't watch such terrible bombing. Ari said he was with him at the time, not watching it. Ari said President doesn't need TV to know what is going on.

Such MORONS ought to have their credentials revoked. I think she was trying to imply that GW did not fully realize the consequences of his actions, and deliberately shielded himself from the images. What an IDIOT.. and I am "series" !

There will be no Smoker's Lounge today unless there is a demand for it.
Looks like there's some pretty heavy smoking going on

Another reporter: "If Saddam and his sons were to surrender right now, would we offer them a safe haven from this bombing?"

Babylon was already made unihabited circa 600 AD by the Persians. No it wasn't. It became the seat of Persian power in the west, Babylon having been taken virtually without a fight (see Daniel 4 and 5 and Josephus' Antiquities). It wasn't until the Seleucids that the trade routes moved north to what is today Baghdad and Babylon faded from importance.
However, that's not what the prophecies say will happen. They describe a great army decending on Babylon and putting everyone to the sword. They describe Babylon becoming like Sodom and Gomorrah in its destruction. And Isaiah 13 (pardon the lack of a verse citation, but I'm at work and without my Bible handy, so I'm doing this from memory) specifically states that "no Arab will pitch his tent in her" again.
Obviously, with Saddam having spent billions of dollars rebuilding Babylon (albiet as the Disneyland of the Middle-east), that prophecy either has not yet taken place, or is false. Since other cross-references put it as a part of the eschatological Day of the Lord sequence of events, I opt for the latter.
I agree that Baghdad is on a different river, and Jeremiah specifically mentions the Euphrates, not the Tigris, which means that todays events can in no way be taken as a fulfillment of prophecy. My point was that even if we expanded our interpretation to include Baghdad as well as literal Babylon, the destruction today doesn't match that in the prophecy anyway.
Yours in Truth,

I don't smoke...can I come if I get some candy cigarettes? Well of course! The only folks not invited or wanted in the Smoker's Lounge are those that are militantly anti smoking.
