NYC Supports the Troops, the U.S.A. and President Bush - 3/23/03

Posted on 03/23/2003 12:56:52 PM PST by NYC GOP Chick

We got to Times Square shortly before noon, and there were well over 1000 patriotic people there! We started out up front, but my dad was uncomfortable and we kept going back and back and back and back... Therefore the only speaker photos I have are of the lady from the Christian Coalition and a couple of FReepers.

By the time we left, there were at *least* close to 3000 flag-waving, "USA! USA! USA!"-chanting patriots squeezed into the area near the ticker tape in Times Square.

I didn't see any other threads on this, so I apologize if this is a duplicate.

DRAT, I am in New Mexico!

This thread is just wonderful and so are the pictures. Look at that crowd. I feel so much better than I did on Feb 15, when all those hideous peaceniks invaded...

You two were greatly missed. We got the promise of a fantastic sound system "next time" LOL, so be sure to join us if we do it again.

I came about 30 mins late - and my heart was lifted when I could hear the roars and chants of the crowd from two blocks away when I came out of the subway.

LOL! When my dad and I came out of the subway and saw the crowd from a little distance, he groaned because he assumed that since there were so many people, it *had* to be an anti-America protest rally. But as we got closer, I saw the American flags and instantly knew it was the good guys! :D

Great!! Also I think Cindy Adams might be on our side.

I used to think she was on our side, but a few years ago she "did lunch" with Hillary and became a shill for the hag ever since.

Actually, the story is very funny -- http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/1997/12/11/hillary/

diabolic, if you fly the NY flag on your profile page you will (a) have access to the New York announcements board (b) get pinged to threads about upcoming NY events.

Just click on your screen name (upper right corner of screen) and choose "edit profile", then select New York from the little pull-down menu on the left.

I'm so sorry that I didn't see you -- and so many other FReepers. But I'm *thrilled* that it was so crowded! You just know that at least some of the troops will be seeing this on TV or reading about it in the papers, and I like to believe that it will matter to them. :D

Reuters has brass ones to say we were "several hundred."

I know! I saw that thread! What a JOKE! I mean, the penned-in areas couldn't hold everyone who wanted to be there!

This thing is snowballing, I tell ya, we didn't get that many people for Election Debacle 2000 and I was beginning to think that was the zenith of freeping in the big city!

Damn, if there's a "next time" soon, can't you just picture an even bigger crowd, say, on the North Lawn of Central Park? Flags flying, birds chirping, petals raining down like confetti? Is that allowed?

Sad but true, when the crowd is big it's usually "theirs"...but that could be changing...

Thank you guys so much - maybe this will offset the positve effect that the American leftwing idiots have on the morale of enemy troops and the negative they have on ours. Thank you again. You guys are great.

Well...I must tell you, the whole day was outstanding.

Started on the train ride from Mount Kisco where people on the train and in Grand Central were cheering my signs (Fuq France/Germany & France: Our Real Enemy); even as I walked down 42 Street I heard cheers.

This starkly contrasts with the rally of 2/15, when 40 of us Freepers had to deal with 100K American haters at the UN when I was arguing with people from the word go.

As I walked west towards the rally I could see the signs and American flags so I crossed the road, unfurled my flag and got with it. A passing fire truck waved as they read my signs.

It was glorius there, absolutely outstanding. The weather was great, the cops were cooperative as was the crowd. The speakers were also terrific; the ones you didn't expect much from really stepped up.

We had an edlderly veteran who was great, a Vietnam vet who spoke of the need to support our troops when they return home, several politicians who were actually good and my favorite, a black female reverend from Harlem who got the crowd pumped...she was fantastic.

The songs were outstanding, we sang the "Star Spangled Banner" twice, ditto for "God Bless America" and as I was leaving many were singing the "Battle Hymn of the Republic".

We said the pledge and had several moments of silence.

The chants were great as well.

It bordered on breathetaking, especially coming off the rally from 2/15.

The best part about it...all types of Americans; young, old, in between. Black, white, Puerto Ricans, Japaneese and even some Austrailians!!

My favorite sign?? "End the War...Win it Now President Bush!!"

My only regret was that ungrateful bitch Mexican immigrant Maria Hinjoshana (or whatever her name is) from CNN was nowhere to be found (she covers all the peace demonstrations for CNN and was in NY yesterday)..

So far the rally has been covered on Fox, CNN, while all the local affiliates in NY have had major coverage of it and the big news radio stations have also given great coverage.

Way to go Free Republic and New York!

As the witch on CNN who never washes her her (Judy Woodruff) said..."the silent majority had their say today and they were loud!!!!!"
