Peter Jennings Blames the U.S.
for Saddam Hussein's Cruelty

03/24/2003
Last week, the Media Research Center released a report demonstrating that Peter Jennings has offered the most consistently anti-American, pro-evil dictator reporting of any U.S. news broadcast. Not surprisingly, he continues unabated.

Friday night, March 21, at approximately 10:45pm EST, ABC presented a taped interview of four Iraqi women by Barbara Walters. These women, now living in the United States, told horrifying tales of Saddam Hussein's cruelty. Walters finished the interview with agreement by all the women that Iraqi citizens will be "rejoicing when the Americans arrive."

Following the taped interview, Walters joined Jennings live: "One of these women took part in the uprising in 1991 and waited for help, the help did not come, and she finally escaped to this country. So she has somewhat mixed feelings, you know don't ask us to rise up and then not help us."

A legitimate complaint, yet the primary focus of the women's message was an evil dictator's use of torture to keep people subjugated by fear. Rather than expand on their point that Saddam Hussein is a despicable and heinous monster, hated by the Iraqi people, Jennings had this to say:

"Yeah, I think, you know, who's to guess the future, but I think a lot of Iraqis have some mixed feeling. It's often been said by the Iraqis, we'll be greeted by bullets, the U.S. forces, that the U.S. thinks it will be greeted by flowers. But the truth is the United States enabled Saddam Hussein to stay in power for a very long period of time, led the campaign to keep sanctions on him for a long period of time which hurt the Iraqi people and when there was the uprising to which you refer in 1991, the United States, at least in their mind, encouraged them to go and then didn't support them as they had anticipated. So these are issues for the future."

Here are a few points for pompous Peter:

Apparently no low is too low for 'Appeasement Pete'. No matter how cruelly inhumane Saddam proves to be, Jennings finds the United States far more distasteful. I invite you to contact him with your thoughts. Below is the contact information. And further, encourage your friends, relatives and neighbors to get their news from someone who doesn't openly despise our country.

PETA Jennings is nothing but a stupid pompous leftist ass. I forget the exact year, but he was covering a Reagan state of the union address. When Reagan entered the chamber to wild applause, Jennings turned to the camera and said, "I should remind everyone that the applause is not necessarily for the President but more to show unity." I clicked the punk off that instant and haven't watched him since.

Years ago I remember a news story out of New York that Peter Pervert Jennings was caught with a young male in a rather delicate circumstance. Anyone recall that?

Peter Jennings is suckin' on lemons. He is so totally out of sync with the majority of Americans. I do not understand why ABC continues this charade of a news.

And furthermore, I've just about had it with the doom and gloom snotty arrogant negativity meisters on the left talking down our great country, CIC and Armed Forces.

Frankly, I do not recall any such bummer reporting when Perjurin' Bill Clinton waged his 80 day war on Serbia. Did we ever hear daily bodybag counts of the the innocent Serbians that were killed by the bombings? Did we ever have any journalist ask clinton or his war council any snide questions? In fact did the mainstream press even know what was going on during the 8 years of wag the dog Clinton diplomacy? Did we see on Serbian bridge, hospital, homes, bombed?

Why do you think Bush Sr. encouraged the Shi'ites and Kurds to rise up when he had no intention of backing them? Think about it. The Kurds and Shi'ites are smacked down and Hussein remains in power, which is what Daddy Bush wanted. He didn't want to "destabilize" the Middle East, and Hussein was pretty weak after losing a war he said he would win.

And some liberals wonder how and why they get pigeon-holed into the "Blame America First" crowd???

Bush's speech wasn't at the Pentagon but at McDill Air Force Base in Florida and was wonderful. If you want a boost it is well worth reading. I watched it and crowd was applauding him wildly. This is the link for the transcript of it http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/03/20030326-4.html

I did not call for the death of anyone. I was just trying to figure out if you had some unusual agenda or if you just lacked a sense of humor.

"I'm not one of 'you' who calls for death to everyone who does not agree with me."

Coincidently, your statement is typical of the distortion and hyperbole that people like Jennings happen to be famous for.

Just curious -- do you support the U.S liberation of Iraq?

I support the liberation of the world. I do see some serious (that's serious folks, not series) mistakes in our current endeaver. I suppose for not following blindly, I am now a traitor and I need to be run over by a dozer. Flame away.

Sometimes I think half the people at FR and DU are not conservatives or liberals, they're partisans. Tow the line or get attacked.

The whole point was that I was tired of seeing all the calls for death. Sorry you were the one I picked to respond to. I don't track the people closely, so for all I know, this is the first time you did it. I was just irritated that day.

I heard the broadcast and frightened my cat with a primal scream in frustration. The entire show had been total US-bashing, UNTIL Barbara brought the women on, credible eyewitnesses that our cause IS just! I breathed a sigh of relief--at least the entire hour hadn't been disastrous....

...Then windbag Jennings comes on with this poop.

If he hates the USA so much, why doesn't he just go back to Canada, where some would welcome him home?

Oh, I forgot...he's pulling a multi-million-dollar salary, thanks to the largesse of the country he so despises.

Is this the best ABC can do for a nightly news anchor?

Despicable.
