After action report: Stealth freep of Democrat Liars Club meeting [Yo, Squid, Drudge Won]
RaoulGram | 4/1/03 | Doctor Raoul and Marylander

Posted on 04/01/2003 6:20:34 PM PST by Marylander

Tonight the DC Chapter conducted, with complete strategic and tactical surprise, a stealth freep of a major Clintonista gathering. While the occasion was a book-signing party for David Brock, we christened it the "Democrat Liars Club meeting." It was held at Lounge 201 in the shadow fo the Capitol at Second and Massachusetts NE.

The honor role was 12 fierce Freepers, Jimmy Valentine's Brother, Marylander, Doctor Raoul, tgslTakoma, BMWcyle, BufordP, Angelwood, KLT and friend, BillF, ToleranceSucksRocks, and kristinn. THEIR dishonor role included Lanny Davis, James Carville, Sid Blumenthal, Tom Daschle, Barney Frank, and numerous toads and lackeys, almost none of whom walked out with a book.

As we are currently mobile, somewhere on the BWI Parkway and afraid we might lose our connection, we are posting this now as a start and will continue the saga as much as we can.

Absolutely, positively, the highlight of the evening was every Freeper chanting, "Yo, Squid, Drudge Won," as Sid Blumenthal snuck off into the darkness.

Democrat & Liars Club? That's redundant isn't it?

As Barney Frank left the place, I yelled (probably too late for him to hear) "hey Barney, how's the home-based business going?" a reference to the prostitution ring that was run out of his home.

Senate Minority Whip Harry Reid came and went within about 10 minutes at the beginning.

Apparently the occasion was by invite only. As people waited to have their name checked from the list, we occasionally chanted "let the blonde in."

As a yellow dog passed by the front door, I couldn't resist yelling "let the yellow dog Democrat in!"

As Daschle was about to leave, the Capitol Police asked tgsltakoma and Angelwood to leave the side of the street where Daschle's SUV was parked in an alley. They joined the rest of us chanting directly in the headlights of Daschle's SUV as it turned from the alley onto the street.

I don't blame the Police for being cautious. The only thing that we planned to hurl at Daschle was the truth, but they can't be sure. (Also, if you think that Daschle was the illegimate majority leader, it is enough to make anyone want to hurl.

To be continued.

SAUROPOD was there on the honor roll, too, the 13th freeper. We're using two brains and we missed you. Go figure.

Sorry, 'Pod.

TgslTakoma and I were standing near the liar's den when we spied none other than Bill Clinton's long-suffering and faithful secretary, Bettie Currie. We yelled out, "Bettie, how's Socks?" Some friends of hers told her what we were yelling and she yelled back that, "He's fine, thank you." And tgslTakoma quickly joined in saying, "Too bad you didn't take Buddy, too -- he might still be alive!"

Carville came by with sunglasses, but we recognized his bald head anyway. We made a few comments and were just getting warmed up; but, alas, Carville beat feet and practically ran down the stairs and into the restaurant. We were chanting, "Run, Carville, Run!"

I'll post my pictures tomorrow. I got lots of pictures of the backs of the liars club leaders' heads. Funny how they all dropped their heads or turned away when they saw us.

What a sight to behold... watching little Tommy Daschle scurrying, ratlike, head down, down the alley behind the club, dodging a trashcan and shuffling down the service stairs into the basement club.

First, we had Backdoor Bill, then it was Backdoor Hill. Tonight it was Backdoor Tommy; sneakin' down the alley with his designer suited staffers.

We had so much fun tonight, but I'm very tired - and concerned for our troops in Iraq - so I'll do the photos tomorrow after work.

There were at least two situations that came close to getting physical.

Some intoxicated guy really got in BufordP's face. Buford was on the same corner as the basement restaurant used for the book signing. Most of us were across the street.

When the guy got in Buford's face, several of us ran across the street. The guy was ranting about his son being in combat.

A Capitol Police officer came over & told the guy that he should calm down & not invade others' personal space. The drunk guy calmed down.

The second occasion involved two lawyers, obnoxious, bullying, attuned to irrelevant details, fast-talking, self-important, and obsessive compulsive.

(These two never said they were lawyers in my hearing. However, even apart from their fancy suits and Italian shoes, the personalities just screamed overzealous lawyers.)

As I went to leave, and after most of our group had left, a shorter one of the lawyers was arguing with Kristinn about whether W had done cocaine, his National Guard service, and so on.

The taller lawyer was arguing with ToleranceSucksRocks over (are you ready for this?) the 2000 election. As he shouted that W was selected, I moved along behind TSR taking photos of the guy as he pointed, waved his arms, and tried to provoke a physical confrontation.

I told TSR that “this is great, they’re still arguing 2000.” “What pathetic losers” I was thinking.

The shorter lawyer turned to me & said “why are you here?” “To torment you,” was my response.

The taller lawyer said that we were just mad because Gore got more votes. And he claimed that they were tormenting us.

He got angrier and angrier. I told him that he should take an anger management course, but he continued his physically aggressive manner.

I would have just laughed this off except that the taller lawyer then moved forward into my personal space and continued ranting.

With his face about 10 inches from my face, his arms flailing, his finger pointing, and the points of his pointy-toed Italian shoes just shy of my toes, I said “You’ve invaded my personal space. Please step back.” I flashed a digital photo of him.

He snarled, “go ahead & push me. Then you can spend 6 months where you belong.”

I discreetly pulled out breath spray, thinking that the guy had bad breath and if he insisted on getting this close I might have to spray him.

I also thought about John Wayne. "I'm not gonna hit ya....I'm not gonna hit ya....The hell I ain't." he said in a movie before punching a guy who more than deserved it.

TgslTakoma saved me from re-enacting junior high. She came over & said that this guy assaulted her at an earlier FReep and that he was trying to pick a fight. I didn’t take the bait.

He then moved off to harangue tgslTakoma and he, along with the other lawyer, were soon thereafter telling Kristinn about Texas court decisions that somehow should have allowed Gore Florida overvotes to count & put Gore into the White House.

TSR and I talked for a minute. I then heard the shorter lawyer say that a conservative Reagan-appointee judge agrees with him that the Supreme Court wrongly decided “Bush v. Gore.”

I couldn’t resist saying “Wow, it’s not that you agree with the judge. It’s the judge who agrees with you. You must be really important.”

The taller lawyer droned on about overvotes, dangling chats, etc. TSR and I both told him, “you’ve convinced us. We’ll vote for Algore next time he’s on the ballot.”

Taller lawyer was not amused. He told me, “you stay here. I’m going to go get my camera & get your photo.” He left.

Having stayed 20 or 30 minutes longer than planned already, I didn’t wait for him to come back. I told TSR that these pathetic losers would still be arguing Florida 2000 in 20 years and I left..

Wish I had challenged taller lawyer to meet me at the junior high flagpole in 20 years so that he and I could fight about dangling chads.

TgslT is right. The guy was trying to pick a fight. Probably wanted to sue us.

Why does everyone like it was horrible or neglectful for Socks to be given to Betty Currie, but they don't feel the same way about the Bushs giving their cat India away to their friends in Texas when they came to DC? I've always been curious about that.

..why does everyone like it was horrible or neglectful for Socks to be given to Betty Currie...

...because Socks was a prop, designed to invoke an 'aww, cute!' response, for TRIPOTUS. That poor little kitty was used, the same way Bubba displayed the massive Bible during the impeachment hearings.
