The Catholic Church's history with Jews is forced conversion (or death

Uh-huh. That's why the majority of the world's Jews lived and thrived in Catholic Europe from the days of the Roman Empire until the pagans invaded Poland in 1939.

Grow up and do some reading.

that most Americans don't agree with his action, including Catholics

to the contrary, TRUE catholics will approve heartily. the catholics in name only, of which Daschle is one, of course, they will disapprove.

Yawn.

The day they kick the Kennedys out of the Church is the day I'll sit up and take notice.

My old girlfriend in college who attended a catholic high school in Tulsa told me that the merest mention of the name "Kennedy" in school assembly--and it got mentioned a lot--brought all the nuns to their feet, applauding.

Care to help?

I will check into it. My Father-in-law was passing out flyers on pro-abortion politicians outside his Parish last prior to last November's elections. He was surprised when a gentleman rolled down his window to accept a flyer. It was "new" Catholic Senator Sam Brownback(R) Kansas.

Speaking of "new" Catholics, I heard that Tony Blair is preparing to convert as soon as his term as PM has expired. I guess his wife and children are Catholic.

The law recognizes that one does not have a free speech right to package a turd and sell it as a brownie.

Some bishops are finally addressing this scandal.

Amen.

Er what are the consequences? It seems to me the consequence is a demand that Daschle comport his speech to the bishop's wishes. It is an empty exercise.

Interesting. It's been legal for the Prime Minister to be a Catholic since 1931, I believe.

CHURCH & TRUTH PROJECT

STOP GRANHOLM
& ALL PRO-ABORTION 'CATHOLIC' POLITICIANS

A challenge to American Bishops to "explain, persuade, correct and admonish those in leadership positions who contradict the Gospel of life through their actions and policies."

-- Living the Gospel of Life: A Challenge to American Catholics,  Issued by the USCCB, Nov. 19, 1998

"I am
100 percent pro-choice"
I support
"partial birth
abortions"
"I have taken a line with respect to being pro-choice in a Catholic church"

Meet
the
"Deadly
Dozen"

-- Gov. Jennifer Granholm

Gov. Granholm attends fund-raiser for St. Bede Catholic Church:
Picket held outside called big success

With less than 24 hours notice, sixteen members of the Church and Truth Project attended a picket on Apr. 13, 2003 at the home of Mary Mulhern, Gov. Jennifer Granholm's mother-in-law. The Sunday evening picket was held in response to a dinner attended by Gov. Granholm and hosted by Mary Mulhern as a fund-raiser for St. Bede parish in Southfield.

The picketers lined up directly across the street and were quite visible to all who entered the Mulhern home. They held aloft two banners as well as signs with messages directed at Gov. Granholm and posters of abortion victims.

A few attending the fundraiser crossed the street to chat with the picketers and voiced their support and two were nearly in tears over the scandal. Monica Migliorino Miller, the director of the Church & Truth Project and the sponsor of the picket, was encouraged by the support. "This show of support is very edifying," she said. The picketers also distributed a few pieces of literature to those attending the dinner.

The State police were called out and were very cordial and did not interfere with the picket in any way--much to the dismay of a few of those attending the fundraiser who hoped they would send the picketers packing.

Miller thought this was one the the best pickets the group has sponsored yet. "First, we were able to gather a decent-sized group on very short notice. The picket was orderly and our message was focused on a very definite audience who could not ignore our message--including Granholm," she said.

"We also gave a good witness to church-going Catholics and showed that we have every intention of making an issue out of pro-abortion public figures who try to pass themselves off as Christians in good standing with the Church--all the while supporting a holocaust against the unborn," she added.

This is not the first time members St. Bede have been involved with the pro-abortion Granholm. On November 3, 2003, Rev. Lawrence A. Pettke of St. Bede publicly supported Jennifer Granholm in her gubernatorial campaign at a rally held at Straight Gate Church in Detroit, just two days before the election.

Rev. Pettke appeared on stage at the Sunday afternoon "Praise, Prayer & Prophecy For Michigan's Future" rally held at the church along with clergy from several other Detroit-area denominations and offered a "Prayer for Compassionate Leadership" on behalf of Granholm as the next governor of Michigan.

Rev. Pettke was also listed in the official worship program, which was paid for by the Michigan Democratic State Central Committee.

Rev. Pettke's attendance at the Democratic rally marked the third time a priest or group of priests in the Archdiocese of Detroit publicly defied Adam Cardinal Maida by supporting Granholm in her bid for governor.

"I have to say clearly that anyone -- politician or otherwise -- who thinks it is acceptable for a Catholic to be pro-abortion is in very great error, puts his or her soul at risk and is not in good standing with the Church. Such a person should have the integrity to acknowledge this and choose of his own volition to abstain from receiving holy Communion until he has a change of heart."

I don't think the unfair trade practices act or the fraud laws apply here. If they do, this the bishop should sue in civil court. How long do you think that case would last?

I support the troops, but I will criticize the commander-in-chief during a time of war?

Ridiculous comparison.

Anytime the US is at war no one can criticize the President?

It is another for him to demand that Daschle comport his speech to the bishop's views. That strikes me as well, un-American.

Look, Torie, I know you're pro-abortion, but I just lost some respect for you for this comment. Daschle claims to be Catholic and claims that his pro-abortion views and actions are not inconsistent with Catholicism, which they clearly are. If Daschle wants to make up his own standards for what Catholics should believe, he should keep them to himself, go find a religion he agrees with, whatever, but not attack the Church by misleading people into thinking it's okay to support abortion.

Your attack on this bishop is unnecessary, unwarranted and pure liberal demagoguery.

It's freedom of association. The diocese no longer wants to have their name associated with someone whose views are an contrary to their collectively stated views.
