Has the "Assault Weapons" ban prevented you from enjoying, purchasing, selling or trading firearms? How? How did it not change anything for you?

The day isn't done and the sun hasn't set...yet (see "Taps")

Feinstein and Schumer Welcome President Bush's Support of Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization
Senators Feinstein and Schumer, authors of the original assault weapons legislation in the Senate and House of Representatives, will introduce legislation to reauthorize the ban shortly after Congress returns from recess. The legislation would:
Reauthorize the prohibition on manufacture, transfer, and possession military-style assault weapons, while protecting hunting rifles and other firearms.
Close the clip-importation loophole, which prohibits the sale of domestically produced high-capacity ammunition magazines, but allows foreign companies to continue to bring them into the country by the millions.
Preserve the right of police officers and other law enforcement officials to use and obtain newly manufactured semi-automatic assault weapons.

LOL! I know!

Everytime I heard the names of Diane, Chuck, and Sara, I'd buy two more guns!

Never attended so many gun shows either!

I now know the perfect "poison pill" amendment to kill this. Propose an amendment that removes the above. After all, we don't want those EVIL weapons to get into the wrong hands, do we? Ha ha.

Let me see, I now have to pay $100 for a Glock G17 standard capacity mag that I used to buy for $15 before the ban. I now have to pay $40 for a NIW AR-15 mag that I used to buy for $17.

I can no longer get a real flash suppressor, instead they put on muzzle brakes that make the gun louder than it needs to be, and more obnoxious to those around you at the range. Lets not forget the folding or collapsable stocks that are oh so deadly, and oh so illegal. God only knows how many lives that has saved.

A pre-ban AR or AK is now worth twice as much as a new gun. See how that supply and demand thing works? Are you getting the picture? See, I have done nothing wrong, broken no laws, threaten no person. And yet I am penalized if I want to have a gun with a flash suppressor and bayonet lug on it.

You mentioned SKS's. They now cost twice as much as they did before the ban.

So what is your point, if any? Lets not forget, we are talking about the Bill of Rights.

Question is, should ANYONE be restricted from owning a firearm?

Answer is yes. Those who've proven themselves dangerous to society such as verifiably (not subjective) mentally ill and violent (as opposed to non-violent) felons. I don't think any reasonable person would argue with that.

Where we're heading with idiot legislation such as the AWB is that anyone a politician or liberal believes to be dangerous can have their human right of self defense stripped from them, which eventually will be everyone except for criminals, the elite and police. This is the dream of the anit-Americanist and we're letting it happen.

I have to run U.S.-made parts in my FALs in order to comply with 922r. They are of lesser quality than the originals and make the rifles unreliable. It's a ridiculous and expensive ritual that takes a lot of fun out of the hobby, but I guess that was the purpose.

It's not just for imports. The ban on mags is for all guns. Same with stocks and flash suppressors and bayonet lugs.

What is the limit, or should there be one?

People in prisons or on parole should not be allowed to own guns. Everyone else should.

It's not just about me, it's about my children.

This is what a lot of people forget.

If this ban doesn't expire, then 30 years from now, there won't be many functional pre-ban mags left.

So are we saying that the Assault Weapon Ban is much like the Partial Birth Abortion Ban- largely symbolic, but in reality very ineffective in stopping the actual act?

No kidding. If you can't trust them with a firearm, then you can't trust them in society. If they are free members of society, then they will have access to weapons.

Remember, all they have to do is pick up the classifieds or rob someone's house. It's really just that simple.

The lyrics of One Thing Leads To Another come to mind...
The deception with tact, just what are you trying to say?
You've got a blank face, which irritates
Communicate, pull out your party piece
You see dimensions in two
State your case with black or white
But when one little cross leads to shots, grit your teeth
You run for cover so discreet, why don't they:

Do what they say, say what you mean
One thing leads to another
You told me something wrong, I know I listen too long
But then one thing leads to another.

The AWB has lowered my self esteem, decreased my libido, and made me profoundly depressed. I think Feinstein and Schumer should pay me a lot of money. It's the American Way.

Just before the ban I saved a mere $750 in order to purchase a Belgium-made FN-FAL. These are really nice weapons, and a pleasure to shoot. The ban struck before I was able to make the purchase. Real FALs, whenever available, are now priced $2700 and up.

I enjoy shooting military weapons, and this is nearly my only sport. I don't hunt. I enjoy collecting well made weapons. Now I'll probably never be able to purchase a genuine FAL ... that is a pity.

I did manage to find a "rebuilt" FAL from South America, but is is a far cry from the real McCoy. (Actually, it is junk by comparison, and doesn't shoot as accurately.)

This begs the question: Why can some people drive over-powerd cars, bungie jump, and parachute while I am not allowed to persue my interets? Yes, the ban has affected me.

You'd better double-check the legality of actually inserting that magazine (not "clip!") into that gun. AFAIK, it is not permitted for me to use my 30-round mags in my AKM due to the ban, although I can use the small cap mags.

but to allow the demoncraps to get re-elected or elected over a law that doesn't affect our rights (even though the gun grappers thought it would) is really crazy.

To use the language of the left this law has created a "hostile environment" where gunowners are presumed guilty until proven innocent or a "penumbra" of fear, uncertainty and confusion for those who deal or trade in firearms or otherwise appreciate the 2nd Amendment.

The UnConstitutional retroactive application of misdeameanor "domestic violence" penalties to barroom fights dating to the 1940's (or before if records exist) has been a source of mayhem in the lives of otherwise outstanding citizens including police, private investigators and security companies.

In my personal case, I witnessed with astonishment the behaviour of a KMart Clerk in 1995 (before KMart went off the deep end) when he sold me a shotgun (took over 30 minutes to complete the transaction);refused to sell me ammunition, and escorted me to the front door of the store with my sealed carton.

The local Sheriff's Office attempted to seize Social Security numbers by requiring them on pistol permit applications until we A. explained the law and the Constitution to him. and B. Voted him out of office after 20 years.

This law and other gun control laws offer aid and comfort to the Blame America and American Ideals First crowd; are UnConstitutional; and should be repealed as a "feel good" measure for all the REAL Americans who have "stuck by their guns" through thick and thin.

If we can remove Saddam-ites from power in Iraq, we must surely be able to remove Saddam-ites (and their bad legislation)from power in the United States whether they call themselves Democrat or Republican.

Hope this helps,

Best regards,

The Second Amendment has nothing to do with target shooting or hunting--nothing.
