"If you've listened to many of his interviews, he is just about pompous and arrogant enough to be french."
Agreed. I have listened to two of his radio interviews. The first was on a local station, and the entire interview got off track by Gene. Gene started talking about his many "affairs" with absolutly no shame and gave a well though out justification of the affairs. He then said that it is well documented that a prostitute followed Jesus and everyone knows that Jesus did have a sexual relationship with the prostitute.
Gene went on about how well educated he is in religious teaching, particularly Jewish teachings, and about how he does not do drugs. He came across very articulate and informed. He ran intelectual rings around the host who was no fool.
The second interview was on Howard Stern, and he just came off as an ego maniac. A few days later, Howard went on and on about how self absorbed Gene is.
Gene is not anyone's puppet and on this subject he is spot on. Gene is not your typical blathering star, he is an intellictual and you will always get a thought provoking statement from him on the issues.
BTW, I saw KISS live about 10 years ago and they were great. I made it up to the front of the main floor and was about 3 feet from Gene (he was above me on the catwalk performing.) He made eye contact with me and tossed me his guitar pic. I was just a little 15 year old girl about 110 lbs. As I reached up to grab the pic, about 20 huge guys jumped on top of me. They got the pic and I escaped with my life. LOL

Yeah but, how do you explain this?

Didn't they do a song called: "Whiskey In A Jar"? And I believe "Metallica" did a remake of it didn't they? My younger daughter was a huge fan of "Metallica", and she had a copy of that song. It seems to me, that she said that "Thin Lizzy" did the original. Has anyone heard about that?

Classic Simmons. I can almost hear him saying it, expletives and all. :)

It is huh? Well you know, I wondered if it was of Irish origin! Some of the lines in the song suggested that. For one thing, the names: "Captain Farrell, Molly, etc..". Because of the words: chamber, rapier, pistol, also suggest a time frame of about the 1600-1700s or so. It also suggests that some of the characters are pirates!

There was another great Simmons quote. When asked about musicians who wanted to not play what the people wanted because they considered themselves "artists," Simmons said, "Do you want to be an artist? Then go paint my fence."

Bookmarked. Thank you.

Eleanor Clift has been heard to argue in recent days that: "at least under Saddam Hussein they had water and electriity." I wish one of those other folks in the circle would point out that they are finding out now that yes, there was water and electricity....and that many thousands found out the hard way what can happen when they are combined while attached to a prisoneers testicles....

I remeber one of his appearances on "Politically Incorrect". The subject was the myth of widespread heterosexual AIDS. I believe Simmons was referred to as "the canary in the mine".

I have to admit, Kristofferson was playing (in the scenes we were involved in) a fading, drunken star. But when (again, my perception) he was NOT shooting, he still appeared drunk!
I also must say, despite her politics, Streisand blew away ALL the rock bands there. She was awesome (remember, this was late 1970s), and even all my "heavy metal" buddies agreed.

Sleeping with Cher makes a man contrite. Then I rest easier knowing that hundreds of thousands now know the grace of humility.

Like Ronald Reagan said upon seeing hippies saying "Make love, not war": "They don't look like they're capable of doing either one."

He's catalogued each and every one of his lovers. That's pretty sick. Hey, everyone needs to have a hobby!
