MY KID'S TEACHER
My Kid's Teacher | May 4, 2003 | Luis Gonzalez

Posted on 05/04/2003 7:49:47 PM PDT by Luis Gonzalez

Just before going to bed tonight, as I kissed my oldest boy good night, he perked up and reminded me of the note his teacher had sent home on Friday. I assured him that I would read it, and tucked him in.

I knew that the note was about the upcoming School Book Fair, he attended his first one last year, and it was a great experience for him. It was the first time he was trusted with money to spend all on his own.

He is a First grader with Third Grade reading skills, I was an avid reader as a kid, and every time I see him sitting with a book on his lap, I feel like I'm walking on air.

I went downstairs and looked for the note, I wanted to see what was expected of him, and how payment for the books would be handled.

I have copied the note word by word below, the note written, and sent home, by the person who is teaching my boy to read and write.

I have left the particulars out for obvious reasons.

I am sending the note to Tallahassee, and asking for this teacher's removal.

This is actually mild. Every time I get an email from a teacher, (public or private,) the spelling, grammar and punctuation are atrocious!

You have a real problem with anger and control if you seek to remove a person from her profession simply because you don't like the sentence structure of that little note.

She'll probably be promoted to Assistant Principal.

Ask your hubby if he'd rather send the kids to a good pediatrician that HE chooses, or have them take pot luck at the industrial clinic down on whatever your skid row street is.

Teachers affect your child's brain and thinking just as the pediatrician affects his bodily health. You wouldn't think of letting anybody but the best doctor look after your kid, would you? :-D

That person is getting paid to teach proper English sentence structure and grammar to my kid, I am paying her to do it.

Would you keep a cook employed in your house if they couldn't cook?

Have you inquired if this person is here legally in this country? It does not seem as someone who has mastery of the English language. On the other hand, it is quite possible that the person is a product of what passes for education in our functionally illiterate educational system.

This is what the liberals are turning out of colleges. I say it is wayyyyy past time to take back our schools--public schools and colleges where our tax dollars are going!!!

Your child may be reading at the third-grade level, but the REAL question is....

What GRADE is the teacher reading at?!!!!!!!!

Uh ... I think that should be: "At what grade is his teacher reading?!!!!!!!!"

I hate to tell you this, but all this junk is par for the course at too many public schools. I've had three go through the system - pretty spread out in age, so I've seen it all over a number of years - and am now going through it all over again with my grandson.

Hopefully you will have more luck than I did. (Although I did supplement their educations with tutoring and lots of extra reading at home.)

Third grade and I didn't help him. He also slammed the D.A.R.E. program when they asked the kids to rate it. He said it didn't work and cost too much. Man, did I catch hell.

Listening to Rush since infancy is influencial, IMO.

Not sure why you want the teacher removed over that... I remember tissue being on the list of school supplied for each parent to buy since kindergarden when I was in school. It's not the teachers fault if the school refuses to spend money on those things. You should fuss at the board of education for not giving the teachers adequate supplies.

You are NOT doing your child a favor by trying to get his teacher fired in this instance. The teacher's note is very inoffensive. And what you propose to do is very offensive because the punishment simply doesn't fit the "crime".

Why not homeschool your child if you feel the teacher is inadequate? If you have such a hostile reaction to the teacher that doesn't portend well for your child's school experience.
