Democrats Complain About Bush Flight
boblonsberry.com ^ | 5/9/03 | Bob Lonsberry

It’s interesting how irrelevance manifests itself.

Like the Democrats this week.

They’ve been parading up and down, making speeches in Congress and holding press conferences, complaining about the president’s flight out to that aircraft carrier last week.

They’ve called it a waste of money. They’ve said it delayed the return of the vessel to port. They’ve said it was all a publicity stunt.

They’ve been full of crap.

And shown their complete disconnect with the American public and the American military.

Because we loved it. We cheered it. Not because we are partisans, but because we are Americans.

If the Democrats doubt the wisdom of that flight out to the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln, they should review the tape and look at the sheer thrill on the faces of those sailors who clambered around the president as he walked across the flight deck. They will see there a visual depiction of what was felt in the hearts of most Americans as their president climbed down from that jet in his flight suit.

It was a moment of admiration and brotherhood, between our troops and their commander-in-chief. And we got to look in, to watch it on television.

It was a moment to be respected and remembered, not mocked and attacked.

The great misfortune of the Democratic Party is that its leaders and loudmouths are so far removed from the lives and thoughts of normal Americans that they can’t realize that. They are no longer able to feel the pulses and passions which course through the country.

Because what happened last week is something which will be remembered warmly for years to come. There was something magical about a president of the United States coming out of the sky and snagging on the deck of a pitching naval vessel. He came to show his respect and love for our men and women in the service. And they knew that. And felt exactly the same way about him.

It’s an odd thing about the military.

It had universal contempt for the last president and universal respect for the current president. The men and women of the military took the measure of that president and this president and judged them very differently.

And the country has done the same thing.

That’s probably what bothers the Democrats so much. And so they have been trying to rain on the parade, to twist and pervert the nation’s reaction to the president’s visit to the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln. Their efforts will be annoying and shrill, but not successful. And they point out the great weakness of the Democratic Party: It has nothing to offer.

It has no message other than: We hate Bush. Or: Bush is dumb. Or: Bush is a cowboy. Or: Bush isn’t big enough to be president.

They are not for anything of substance, they are merely against anything the Republicans suggest. They are the party not of opposition, but of obstruction. They don’t build up, they block.

We don’t really have two parties, any more. We have one party and a bunch of whiners, the latter united by little more than a common desire to complain and destroy and live off the labor of another.

But let them whine.

The rest of us have work to do. We have a Republic to strengthen and freedom to spread.

And George W. Bush is our leader.

And thank God for that.

The RATS play to their own internal demographics, which is a sullen, listless minority population of losers who sit around all day whining and grumbling, sort of like Huck Finn's father when he was prevented from stealing his son's money: "and they call that a gubmint!"

I am not happy about the Iraq war... (no one really is)

I was even angry with President Bush.... and questioned US motives, but when the Democrats started to attack our
President over the flight to the USS Abraham Lincoln
It made me realize I would rather have President Bush to lead our Country than any::
spiteful, ignorant, immoral, money grubbing, arrogant, communist, socialist Democrat!!

True, but that whining constituency is depressingly close to 50% of the population. The hard core losers are probably around 40%.

Let the babies cry, eventually they will shut up...the problem is to try not to appease them by "picking them up".

The other issue is that most of those Rats can't do the same thing! Jealousy can be so detrimental...

Agreed. We should let them continue making arses out of themselves. But we need to chronicle everything they've been saying since the 2000 election as well. Nice to keep full clips of ammo; because ya just never know.

The Dems just keep complaining....That's their party motto. That's Hitlery's motto, too.

Everthing is wrong and I will change it to what I think is right.

Read her school commencement speech. It shows through loud and clear.

I just love her last screech...You people who are saying we are unpatriotic shouldn't be saying that. We have the right to criticize this administration. So much for free speech FOR ALL!!

You should have no reasons for misgivings. I am happy about the Battle of Iraq. Saddam is gone. Saddam was fully possessed of a huge stockpile of a CBW arsenal. And he was working 24/7 on a nuclear weapons program. Both are either buried and we will find them, or relocated to Syria and Iran, and again, we will find them and finish this.

And Osama Bin Laden and Al Quaeda was his sock puppet. It is amazing how fast the spin was put out by the media after 9-11 trying to deny that there was ANY link...despite well-known PUBLICATIONS linking them. As to the 9-11 operation,We may never find documentary proof or an Al-Quaeda turncoat who will rat it out, but because we KNOW as a matter of logistics that Al-Quaeda had a STATE sponsor with major intel capability...the likelihood has been well understood that Iraq is the most probable behind-the-scenes 'enabling' suspect. And now it is no more. A message to our enemies who cheered on 9-11 (Venezuela, Brazil, China, Al Jazeera and the BBC ).

There were at least 5 democRATS on board the carrier with Bush. Only Fox news is reporting this. Sen. Maria Cantwell and Osama Mamma Patty Murray, both dems were on board. As well as Washington Gov. Gary Locke. and Rep. Norm Dicks (Dix?) also. The liberal media elite continually fail to point this out.

Shortstop, you just said a mouthful. I have said for years that there is not a two party system in Washington. There is one ugly party with two heads. The only reason they continue to pretend that there are two parties is so that we do not start a second party.

I would argue that the greatest weakness of the dem party today is their swing to the extreme left and consequent marginalization.
