"physical states are temporary. By the time she reaches 35 that same elite German Panzer has turned into a wasted carcass on the Kursk battlefield. It can be seen belching black smoke into the Russian night from 10 miles away"
Reading to this point confirms the author is an idiot.
I'm in my 40's, a father, and have been divorced for 8 years. The wisdom, grace, and maturity of women in my age group is a treasure, and a turn-on compared to the flighty, disillusioned 20 somethings.
Granted, for the most part, women in their 20's defy gravity better than when they are in their 40's. Using that as the sole critierea in selecting a partner is indeed shallow, not noble as the author suggests.

I would have to agree with you.
I am 38 this year, and so is my wife. We were married at 19yrs. I have watched her age to perfection, even after 4 children, she is beautiful. She still "defies Gravity".

He was calling out to the fact that 20-somethings do defy gravity better...I don't think he'd deny you that they mature as well.
From a strict anthropological aspect, maturity doesn't matter.
Pardon his oversight in that light.

I agree. Women in their 20s are nice to look at, but good luck finding one that can carry a conversation that doesn't drive you to distraction after about 3 minutes.

That may be you, but it's not most men. It's also not JUST the physical aspects he's referring to, he also is talking about FERTILITY.
I'm sorry, the odds that my mother can have children is quite low and if she meets a guy(she's a widow) that doesn't have kids but is a good match, he will probably go marry someone younger. Why? Because he wants his own kids. Heck, even some men with children from previous relationships want at least one with the current flame. Women in their late 30s and 40s are simply not fertile enough to deliver on this expectation.
Also, speaking from my own experience(at age 26) while I have actually been fond of most of the women I've dated, I have some distaste for marrying a woman who catches my fancy at the time, but carries with her years of baggage from broken sexual or emotional relationships. Even the very best I've known have carried that with them, and it embitters women more than it gets to men(I always give new women a chance despite what I say, but I'm lumped in with all other males by a lot of women)

Do you want more children?
If so then you would have to logically look for a woman somewhat younger than you unless you want to "hope" or have a lot of money for invitro.
I'm not talking early 20s babettes but maybe early to mid 30s.
I did at your age and I like it!

Reading to this point confirms the author is an idiot. You have got to be frickin' kidding me.
Your comment proves not only are you in your 40's, a father, and divorced...you're also "whipped."
This piece was brilliant.
