the COUNTRIES economies NEED sport hunting to support their game management programs & to remove excess game animals.

these same excess animals would have to be shot anyway to assure that overpopulation does NOT kill off the rest, as happened in the 3 years immediately after Kenya banned sport hunting.

MOST African nations practice "gun control" and do NOt allow civilans to have guns, even for self defense!

a place where ONLY the police & military has the guns is called a POLICE STATE!

because, over the last 1/4 of a CENTURY, i've investigated a BUNCH of deaths/injurys from gunshot wounds & NEVER have i seen one where the victim fell with a weapon that close at hand.

this is true whether we are talking about accident, suicide or homicide.

the NATURAL muscle contractions/reflexes, immediately following an injury or death wound, cause the weapon to be thrown away from the body;frequently in the direction of the bullet's path.

THAT"S WHY!

if you knew anything, from ACTUAL expierience (like seeing a few battle deaths, for example), you wouldn't have to ask.

DANG!

If you're all that impressed, I know of one that is or was available for sale pretty reasonably. Every boy should have one, though the time I spent with one professionally pretty well killed any taste I had for one as a hobbiest. And, of course, they come without the elephant included. But that shouldn't be too hard to take care of.

Ahem, that was one of a kind. Not the crane, the execution.

Let it remain one of a kind, forever. :)

NOPE! CROCs.

Point taken, though I was really offering the example of prey that turn the game around on the hunters rather than those predators who view humanity as a source of warm meat.

Oh. My misunderstanding...[sure it was....]

Let it remain one of a kind, forever. :)

Oh very well, spoilsport; it was a rather unique event. Now what the bloody HELL am I going to do with 60 feet of 1-inch steel cable terminating in a hangman's noose.

But I'll give up the lynching of pachyderms if you'll allow me to continue gassing or decompressing monkeys. Filthy little buggers, rats have more personality.

That Garand looks like something got trapped in the barrel?
Or it could have been a round with too much pressure.

I dunno, maybe you could keep it ready for the enemies of FReedom?

As far as decompressing RATs goes, I just wish you could work your will on a few RAT politicians.

I can dream, can't I?

"If the natives want the meat, let them hunt it."

The fact is that in many parts of Africa there is no meat to hunt, and this wasn't caused by sport hunters.
It was caused by overpopulation.
Any industry, including the sport hunting industry, which will pour money into the economies of Africa, is vital to the survival of the people.
Like so many have said, I've never seen one animal killed in Africa that wasn't eaten.
It makes no difference how it was killed.

Poachers are the only hunters who don't eat their kill or give it to the villagers to eat.
All poachers should be shot and field dressed just like the animals they kill.

I don't know the circumstances surrounding the picture. I used it as an example that serious things can happen when a person gets careless with the facts in reloading.

It's completely possible there was a barrel obstruction but that's only an educated guess.

Well, I just got off the phone with a good friend of mine that has hunted in Africa. He told me that he ate his kill along side the people of a local town. He said the whole thing was nice. He paid $8,000 for the trip. Nothing wasted he assured me. I'm going to slip into my asbestos suit now!

"I'm going to slip into my asbestos suit now!"

No need to do that, my friend.
People get so indoctrinated with pictures in National Geographic of dead animals lying all over the damn place that they think it's common.
National Geographic has become a mouthpiece for PETA and the environazis.

I was a hero for finding those elephant tracks because those two elephants fed several hundred people.
The bush African is too hungry for meat to pass up an opportunity if they know about it.

In contrast, there's a tour that leaves Nairobi in Kenya on which nothing is permitted except a camera.
Everything is furnished including the motorbikes you ride and the tents and groceries to stay out five days.

"El Roy let me shoot this one...."

That's the Sharp's 45.70.
I told Tom that when he set the back trigger all he had to do was touch the front trigger!
This pic is just before that look of surprise on his face when it went off!

That's a nice Sharps. I have never seen that color on the receiver before. Is it gold plated or a reflection?

I have a Remington Spanish .43 that someone re-chambered as a 45-70. I don't especially like the full stock but it also has a tang rear sight which I do appreciate.

"Is it gold plated or a reflection?"

No, it's silver, G.
The scroll work on it is beautiful!

Anyone who shot both at the last shoot can say, I think, that the 45.70 is harder on the shoulder than the .50 caliber Barrett.
It's not meant to be fired from a bench rest.
It fits the shoulder perfectly in the offhand position.
