I am not certain, but I think I recall reading it had some copyright thing that precluded a video or additional airings. Again, I'm not certain about that.

Well, that might be the reason it is buried somewhere. :(

I thought it was a great, suspensful movie, a shame younger folks can't see it today.

"McCue"..."Brannigan".

You may have a point. Don't have them in my video collection.

I also did not know Jimmy Stewart lost a son in Vietnam. Jimmy was another great one, actor and American.

Indeed. I was astonished to learn that Jimmy's final mission as an Air Force reservist was - at his request - a B-52 bombing mission over North Vietnam.

From Incommunicado by Jimmy Buffett:

**********

Now on the day that John Wayne died
I found myself on the continental divide
Tell me where do I go from here
Think I'll ride into Leadville and have a few beers
I think of "Red River" or "Liberty Valance"
Can't believe the old man's gone

Chorus:
But now he's incommunicado
Leavin' such a hole in a world that believed
That a life with such bravado
Was takin' the right way home

*************

What was the name of the movie in which rhe Duke played "Red" Adair, the man from Houston who origionated the technique of putting out oil well fires?

I remember the premire of the movie was in Houston, I think at the Metropolitan theatre. It was so crowded I couldn't get within blocks!

My father owned his own business and worked long hours. Most times he was gone when we got up, and came home after we were in bed.

But he loved his westerns. On Saturdays, I would sit up with him until 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning watching John Wayne movies. They were some of the best times I had with him.

>>I think O'Hara is a babe<<

Speaking of O'Hara, how can we forget "the Quiet Man." A seminal work that showed the Duke's flexibility in playing very macho comedy (something unheard of today).

And the longest, greatest and funniest fight scene ever anywhere!

They were two unusually good men, John Wayne and. Ronald Reagan. Both leave legacies to our good..

Don't leave Jimmy Stewart out of this. What is not mentioned, was his service in the Air Force Reserve. General Jimmy Stewart flew B52 missions over Viet Nam during that war.

Personally, I think John Wayne was the reason General Norman Schwarzkopf was so popular during Desert Storm. John Wayne was larger than life. When he showed up you knew the bad guys were done for and all would be made right.

Schwarzkopf was larger than life and reminded people of the Duke. We were ready for another hero and John Wayne wasn't here.

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance is one of my all time favorite movies.
