Duke always married those lovely Latino women in real life.

The mudfight was with Maureen O'Hara in McClintock.

You agree then about the movie "The Searchers"....BTW, wasn't Rooster Cogburn the movie with the "mud" fight with Hepburn and others...??? I think that was an older movie. The gal was Maureen O'hara, I believe. The movie may have been McLintock

That courtroom scene was a great scene! Speaking of courtrooms, your tagline reminds me of a two word quote which I personally get a kick out of each time I see it. J. Noble Daggett is explaining to our heroic marshall that after hearing Matie Ross's (of near Dardenelle in Yell County)story of her adventure going after the murderer, Tom Chaney, he now affords our hero with 'my thanks, and with certain reservations, my respect'.
The response, with just the perfect amount of sarcasm in voice and body language..."how nice."

Oops!!! ROTFLMAO!
Correction:
"Re: Jimmy Swaggart's character:"
Should read:
"Re: Jimmy Stewart's character:"
"Ah, I'm not gonna hurt him."

BTW, my favorite Wayne film is still The Quiet Man. Between the beautiful landscape, the superb cast, and the opening scene when he first catches sight of Maureen O'Hara running barefoot through the hills herding those sheep, I'm glued to the set every time it comes on. And Ms. O'Hara is still the epitome of the red-haired female...

Hard to confuse those two!
BTW, I notice when JWayne treads come up, few people list "Hondo' as a movie of note. As well as being a good movie, IMO, it was the source of the nickname of Celtics player John 'Hondo' Havlichek....who was said to resemble Wayne as a young man.

They were two unusually good men, John Wayne and. Ronald Reagan. Both leave legacies to our good..
Yes, it is encouraging that men and women in entertainment rise to use their skills for the good of society and this country. Where is a John Wayne when we need him? Maybe God, instead of an actor, gave us George W!
Rest well John Wayne and may Ronald Reagans final days be as comfortable as possible.

Talking about the Duke, does anyone here remember the movie, I think it was released in the 1950's -
"The High and the Mighty" where Wayne was the captian on an airliner that developed trouble on a filght to Hawaii?
High and the Mighty was the forerunner of all the "Airport" movies.
I never see that film mentioned anymore, but I remember the ending very well. I would love to have a copy of that film.

I saw it long ago. I am not certain, but I think I recall reading it had some copyright thing that precluded a video or additional airings. Again, I'm not certain about that.

...Matie Ross's (of near Dardenelle in Yell County)...IF I recall correctly, Matie always used the term '...near Dardenell in Yell County, Arkansas...'

As I sit at my computer I need only look up to a pencil drawing of the Duke with his tall hat and bandana around his neck. He is the cowboy that made all us younguns want to be the goodguy. He planted a seed in Americas youth that has prospered generation after generation. A legacy that we in turn can pass on to our children, a legecy of all that is great and good about America. Scum like George Clooney and the rest of the socialists in todays Hollywood can never reach the hearts of our great nation as did the Duke. He was truly one of a kind and I can never repay him for all that he has done for me personally even though I never met him. It was the Duke that reenforced the values my parents and my God would have me live by. Thanks Duke, and happy birthday from us all.
