Laci's hubby spent secret cash on lovers

With as many as three girlfriends, multiple cell phones to stay in touch and a checking account hidden from his wife, Scott Peterson had a busy secret life, a source close to the double-murder investigation revealed.

Investigators also have evidence that Peterson - accused of killing his pregnant wife, Laci, and their unborn son, named Conner - made a "significant purchase" of items that could have been used to anchor a body, a second source familiar with the case said.

Investigators need to find the items to "connect all the dots," that source said.

The bodies of Laci and Conner washed ashore last month in San Francisco Bay, near where Scott Peterson, 30, had told cops he went fishing Christmas Eve. He reported his 27-year-old wife missing after returning that night.

Peterson, a fertilizer salesman, has proclaimed his innocence. His lawyer, Mark Geragos, has vowed to help him find the real killer.

Lawyer Gloria Allred, representing Peterson's admitted mistress, Amber Frey, urged any other girlfriends to step forward yesterday. Allred also met with prosecutors to discuss their plans to call Frey as a witness, possibly during a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 16.

Peterson, who is being held without bond, showed up in court yesterday aslawyers wrangled over an array of issues, from unsealing document towiretaps.

His bleach blond locks had been shorn to a near-buzz cut that was back to his original dark brown. He said nothing, appearing confident and sometimes flashing a smug grin as the legal eagles duked it out.

Judge Al Girolami heard arguments from California newspapers that want sealed documents - including search warrants and autopsy results - to be made public. He said he would rule this week.

Girolami also threatened to issue a gag order. "Every day we hear about something in the paper that we don't hear in court," he said. "I think we need a protective order."

The judge ordered prosecutors to give Peterson's camp copies of 69 phone conversations that law enforcement intercepted between the defendant and his lawyers in the months before his arrest.

Details of those conversations were disclosed Monday on Fox News Channel, which reported that Peterson told Frey in one conversation: "I know who did it, and I'll tell you later when I see you." That meeting never occurred.

Defense sources have raised the possibility that Laci Peterson was killed as part of a satanic ritual or by a strange man spotted in the neighborhood the day she disappeared.

After the court proceedings, Geragos said the defense team has received several helpful tips from the public that the police also are looking into.

"The big cases tend to bring out the big nuts," he conceded, "but a lot of information we have received has been very good."

I see you are a LAWYER......does this mean you can explain, with a straight face, why Scott had $10,000.00, a totally different look and his BROTHER'S PASSPORT on him??? NO ONE carries someone else's passport unless they are about to flee.

Also, MOST...MOST of the time it's the SPOUSE that murders...not a stranger. I'm sure they told you that in Law School.

Tell it to Winona Ryder. Scotty would've been better off with a PD.

What is so bizarre ---if this guy gets off, he'll likely have no shortage of future girlfriends. Women will be lining up for the opportunity to spend time with him.

Do you think Peterson is innocent?

Do you think his lawyers will lie and trash other innocent people to get him off regardless if he's guilty or not?

And you really believe that is an attorneys job and is what an ethical attorney should do?

I suppose you think OJ didn't do it because the jury didn't convict?

Peterson is absolutely entitled to a fair trial. He's not entitled to have his lawyer make a mockery of truth and justice.

Lawyer Geragos is a profesional liar, a narcissistic cockroach with no ethics, a mind filled with smug evil, and a gleeful accomplice to murder. A typical shyster and member of the disgusting and totally corrupt lawyer industry.

You are SO RIGHT! "Cockroach" is the perfect description. I can't understand why ANYONE would hire this guy. It amounts to wearing a sign "Hi, I'm guilty as hell. And the only slimeball that will defend me is this cockroach."

"does this mean you can explain, with a straight face, why Scott had $10,000.00,"

Either a rather large nassau, or he was heading to Mexico. :>)

"NO ONE carries someone else's passport unless they are about to flee."

Nonsense. I've carried many a passport in my day, only some of them mine. Did you forget to assert that only guilty people flee? Do you believe everything that the prosecution leaks, but nothing that the defense does?

"Also, MOST...MOST of the time it's the SPOUSE that murders...not a stranger. I'm sure they told you that in Law School."

Absolutely. They also taught us to examine the evidence, and not be swayed by either side's playing to the public. The prosecution's been doing it for 4 months, the defense for 1 month now. I sure hope the prosecution's not as incompetent as Marcia Clark & that gang.

Have you never seen the prosecution do that?

Re your # 3... A fair trial does not mean getting a guilty man off. It means making sure his rights are not infringed on the way to a guilty verdict

Nice if this were true...But...Trial Lawyers in the real world have one, and only one central goal...Total aquital for the accused. That is how they gain fame and more recognition.

The "fair trial goal you assert as a central goal is tripe for public consumption.

Trial Lawyers in general are wealth seeking scumbags!.

Nonetheless, Have a nice day.

If the prosecution does that they should be fired (and charged).

Geragos has a long history of creating outrages stories based on nothing but lies. And no, I wouldn't hire him.

"Whaddaya think? I DID IT!" after which Amber shrieks and tries to escape but just as he starts to drop the axe on her, Amber removes her face mask revealing

SPECIAL AGENT JANET RENO who smirks "Are you man enough for THIS?!!!" ripping open her shirt and sending Peterson reeling for the door where he is apprehended.

geragos and others of his sad, despicable ilk are true members of the "new" legal profession as it is portrayed in The Devil's Advocate...in the movie, Al Pacino -- playing satan -- calls the legal profession the "new priesthood." The new priesthood for satan, that is.

I think you misunderstood my post. I agree with you. My comment that you quoted was what the goal should be, not what it currently is.

Details of those conversations were disclosed Monday on Fox News Channel, which reported that Peterson told Frey in one conversation: "I know who did it, and I'll tell you later when I see you."

So this is the Miss Frey who says she had no idea that Peterson was married and waxes shocked and hurt. Well she sure as apples knew he was married when this conversation took place. His wife had been murdered and he was behaving in a most unbereaved manner. Yet she's still yakking down the phone to this creep and listening to his BS. I'd say Miss Frey is deeply emotionally involved with Peterson and in severe denial.

Seems like Scot was quite a guy. Kept several on the go at the same time. He acted and thought like a single person. No consideration for his wife's feelings, only his own selfish enjoyment. The only time I've heard him tell the truth is when he said "I know who did it."

Before someone says it, I know this doesn't make him a murderer. What it makes him is a selfish, uncaring creep, with the potential to be a murderer. Not all selfish creeps kill their wives. But all who kill their wives are selfish creeps.
