***STATEMENT OF REV. JESSE LEE PETERSON REGARDING FALLOUT AT THE NEW YORK TIMES AFTER JAYSON BLAIR SCANDAL***
The resignation of Executive Editor Howell Raines and Managing Editor Gerald Boyd of the New York Times is the direct fallout of the Jayson Blair scandal. The Times allowed racial diversity and political correctness to trump truth and character. By hiring and promoting a con man [Blair], the Times further damaged its already tarnished reputation and hurt the ethical journalists who work for them.
If Blair were not a black male, he probably would not have been hired without a college degree. If he werent black, at the first sign of a problem, his supervisors would have scrutinized his work and character. If he werent black, he would not have lasted three and a half years at the Times.
This is an example of the chickens coming home to roost. The Times is an unabashed liberal paper that advocates left wing propaganda. And now, their liberal policies have come back to bite them.
This series of events should serve as a wake-up call to all American companies that affirmative action, racial diversity, and inclusion policies hurt all Americans. They hurt the companies that hire unqualified and unprincipled employees. And they hurt blacks and other minorities who are judged by lower standards.
I hope this will spark a national debate regarding the hiring practices of American companies, as well as the admission polices of our universities and colleges. We need to expose the Jayson Blairs of the world and their enablers.

And all of this as SCOTUS contemplates a landmark Affirmative Action/Racial Diversity case at U Mich.
The NYT destroys Affirmative Action by living example rather than rhetoric-- there is justice after all.

It's the liberal agenda and hiring only those who will tout same that has brought the Times to disgrace.

Ping.
This is the second challenge I've heard today to the "diversity is a wonderful thing" statement. I won;t call it an argument because I've never heard one shred of supporting evidence.

Jayson Blair is typical of the kind of blacks who seem to get hired by politically correct managers. There are millions of blacks out there with college degrees, and probably hundreds of young blacks better qualified as reporters.
Why Blair, then? We can only speculate, but he must have impressed the editors at the Times as cool, hip, politically correct, and all that. I suspect he may be gay too, like the majority of people working at the Times; but I have not seen any statement to that effect, only speculation.
But it's clear enough that whoever hired him could easily have hired other black candidates who were better qualified for getting on the fast track at the Times. It's a plum job, highly paid, which most people in the profession would jump at.

While this is an interesting article, and God knows I have for years recognized "affirmative action" as being both a political Ponzi scheme and a cynical club for beating down "minorities", I am not convinced that it is the true reason why Jayson Blair got away with what he did.
Based on the NYT's Marxist propensities under Howell Raines, I think it was simply a case of Blair telling the editors what they wanted to hear. The fact that he was black may have blinded them to some of his shortcomings, but the bottom line was that he was delivering the tainted goods they so obviously craved, like a good con artist should.
That's a consequence of the iniquities of agenda-based "journalism", not "affirmative action" (although AA has no shortage of its own sundry evil consequences throughout our society).

I hate the word, "diversity." It's root directly implies that a society headed in myriad opposite directions is somehow a good thing. That is hardly the case.
Whatever happened to "variety"?
